Can I report my 90-day stay in Thailand online if I've re-entered the country?

There have been a lot of talks you can do 90d report online if you have done it in person once, no matter what.

Yes: if you extend your DTV for another 6months you can do online until you leave the country

No: If you do border run every 6months or less, you can never do it online

Main point is in the picture, "each country visit".

Now, let the talk stop about you can do it online whether you go outside or not 🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion highlights the processes surrounding the 90-day reporting obligation for foreigners in Thailand. It confirms that the initial 90-day report must be done in person after re-entering Thailand, regardless of previous online submissions. If a foreigner extends their stay, they can report online, but if they perform a border run, they must report in person each time they return. This creates confusion among expats, with some arguing about the regulations while others share personal experiences confirming the need for in-person reporting after leaving the country.

If you don't need a residence certificate it doesn't matter if you do it or not as you are leaving the country after 180 days

There will never be a second time, since you start a new period at least every 180 days.

It’s a simple thing to do, for 180 days in Thailand.

Will failing to report 90 days and exiting the country and then re-entering have consequences? Half of the people I know on DTV's have not a clue of this requirement...

Anonieme deelnemer 807 Why not just respect the rules of the country you visit as a guest?

I also don't see why the TM47 is needed, but it is free and not difficult, so just do it.

why not just assume I have actually already respected the rules although the TM47 specification was extremely problematic as I was travelling throughout Thailand and a 3 day guesthouse booking was not sufficient in Lak Si so personally it was was far from straightforward for me.

Also why not reread my comment and notice I referred to other people unaware of this.

Anonieme deelnemer 807 I reread and see your question if failing to report will have consequences, to me that sounds like you don't want to do TM47 reporting. I don't understand what the guesthouse booking has to do with TM47 reporting.

I agree a lot of DTV holders are unaware of this obligation. Maybe that is because Thai authorities don't have a very active role in informing visitors, but I also think people have a responsibility themselves to check for the rules of a country before they visit.

Too lazy to inform yourself is never a good excuse .

so if you don't understand perhaps you should ask for clarification or refrain from commenting on what it 'sounds like' to you.

A TM30 guesthouse booking of short duration was not acceptable in my experience to meet the requirements to file a successful TM47.

I'm not excusing people - I had a simple query regarding what, if any consequences would be in the scenario of failing to report 90 days, then exiting and returning to Thailand.

Anonieme deelnemer 807 When you play according the rules, you have TM30 registration for every night you stay in Thailand, it is as simple as that, for immigration when you do TM47 report it is not important if the last one is one day or 90 days.

Which immigration office did telll you should stay more days in a row to do 90 day reporting?

You clearly asked what are consequences when you do not fullfill your obligations. Why should I then extra ask again if you are planning not to fullfill this obligations.

Negative remarks in your immigration history on not fullfilling any requirement, may come back and haunt you later, ever when it has no consequences at the moment.

Everytime you leave Thailand the “90 days” clock runs out.

On the next arrival the clock starts at 1 again.

Anonymous participant 807 Yeah you will be subject to fines. Also you run the risk of being arrested for example if a police officer did a spot check for XYZ and you were found not to have done your 90 day report.

no cases that you know of doesn’t mean it hasn’t or couldn’t happen.

If you fail to report and are stopped for something else like check points or random stops let’s say no helmet the penalty is harsher.

If you are a repeat offender you can face deportation and being blacklisted. For this to happen you would be arrests. Why? Because you are in beach of your VISA

for one off cases yes it’s a fine. However Thai immigration law stipulates that repeated or serious failures to submit 90-day reports can, in extreme cases, lead to deportation and blacklisting.

Whether that’s acted on is a different matter, it doesn’t change the law you dullard!

If you stay in Thailand for 60 days, and leave for 15 days and then come back. Do you need the TM30 and report after 30 more days, or 90 days?

Gump 🐔 TM30 only for people that stay long time? Where did you find that nonsense.

Every alien should be registered within 24 hours after arrival, not really longtime in my opinion.

When I was doing my first 90 day report last week, I asked this very question in person and was told the exact same thing.

As soon as you leave and re-enter your first 90 day can’t be done online. It’s a reset.

The amount of people arguing the contrary was amusing.

Anonymous participant 959 Yes, correct. One individual down in Krabi claims otherwise, but I told her she's wrong and a "know it all". Usually, you'll receive a rejection email after the initial filing, something she probably isn't aware of.

I don't know why they created this bureaucratic nonsense, although at least you can always mail your 90 day report in rather than going in person, regardless of whether it's your first or 10th time following your last re-entry.

It's still better to try each time. There are people that get approved and save a trip to immigration. If you're rejected the worst is you're out 5 minutes of your time on the computer. The official policy is that you must do it in person the first time after entering Thailand, each time you enter.

And an advantage is that the 5 minutes spend on the computer are not lost time.

You can use the filled in form, print it and take it with you to immigration office.

The confusion is always about the difference beween "first time" and "first time of each stay", the last one is true, and that implies for DTV in most cases every 90 days report again is the first one, because most DTV holders not extend in country.
