Your U.K. pension is U.K. sourced income so will always be subject to U.K. tax whether or not you are resident there. So if you become tax resident in Thailand you will be taxed in the U.K. on your U.K. sourced income then claim treaty benefits so that it isn’t taxed in Thailand as well. Any other income might be subject to Thai taxes.

Ray Bingham that’s right. Just do the paperwork. It can be a bit frustrating but it’s not that difficult. Especially if you are retired and don’t have anything else pressing to do.

Most of the mainstream banks will just transfer your account to an offshore hub they use. NatWest used to transfer accounts like yours to the Isle of Man.

There is a list of nationalities for whom no visa is required on arrival. I would check that if I were you.

Ian Carman if you have a place in the U.K. available to you and spend more than 90 days a year in the U.K. you will likely still be classed as U.K. resident. If you spend more than 180 days in Thailand you will be tax resident there too but your incomes are U.K. sourced and taxed there so you would get relief from Thai tax under the treaty but also DWP will probably still grant increases.

You have to register at the house and get a letter from immigration for the bank. You can register online or at immigration. You should press on and get it done so that you can get your deposit in place as soon as possible.
