Hoping soon to be in Pattaya. Hoow much is it now for a retirement visa.
Answer summary
The conversation reveals that the cost of a 90-day Non-O visa for retirement in Thailand is approximately 2,000 Baht, followed by a 1-year extension costing 1,900 Baht. Additional requirements include having at least 800,000 Baht in a Thai bank account for at least 2 months prior to applying for the extension. Many participants suggest seeking the help of an immigration attorney or agent, who can facilitate the process but may charge higher fees. It’s noted that the pension verification or bank amount confirmation is also important when applying for these visas.

If your heading for Pattaya, just get an extension, drink copious amounts 🍺🍺🍺 look for most beautiful lady who loves you, and the rest will fall into place. NOT
Gordon Pattison its the contacts they have and you get priority they know everything about visa system and can make calls directly to people they know who deal with everything you cant
the going rate for the "full package" (bank account opening, 90-days Non-O Visa and 12-months extension) if you arrive on a tourist visa or visa-exempt, currently only available from a handful of agents, is up from 60,000 THB. Myself I have been quoted 80,000 THB recently. It is cheaper to arrive on a Non-O visa issued in the home country, as on it you can get a Thai bank account opened (if you need help an agent would cost 5000 THB in Pattaya to get an account opened for you) Then transfer your own funds into it, and the application to the 12-months extension does only cost 1900 Baht
Reg Sloan it is $80 in your home country to apply for the 90-days Non-Imm-O Retirement Visa, and it is 1900 Baht fee to apply for the 1-year Extension of the Temporary Stay Permit on Immigration. You need a minimum of 800,000 THB in your Thai bank account matured for 2 months, in order to be able to apply for the 1-year extension. Good Luck!
My advice is go to immigration in Thailand it’s much easier let them do your visa then no mistakes. I wouldn’t apply for a visa in my own country country because it takes too long and you could be going to and throw and may not get the visa for 1yr.
If you care asking how much is a visa using an agent to do everything including the 800,000bht its about 40,000 bht plus around 20,000 for a bank account.
Simon Adams yep, the going rate for the "full package" (bank account opening, 90-days Non-O Visa and 12-months extension) if you arrive on a tourist visa or visa-exempt, currently only available from a handful of agents, is up from 60,000 THB. Greg Alexander Yes it does but with 800,000bht in a good investment account in the UK you can. Earn between £700-1000 so the interest will pay for the agent and have some left in your pocket,800,000bht in Thailand earns nothing
Nigel Tucker This is totally wrong information, to get a bank account you need a long term visa you will not get a non o in Thailand without a bank account so you need to apply in your own country for a visa this will entitle you to get a bank account then extend your visa
Barath Faust. If you have a joint account for retirement O visa for the extension of stay you will need 1600,000 baht not 800,000 in your joint account
Last question from me, when you are applying for a non o Thai visa in your local country, (myself being England), you need to show flights booked which is fine, but will the Thai immigration be happy with an Airbnb booking for a few months and what confirmations will they require, when applying for the non o visa for me in London, or is it worth booking a hotel? Thank you in advance
Lydia Zimmerman if you have the bank account and funds why would you pay to have someone do it for you agents are charging 45-65k to do it all for you 1900 baht to do it yourself
Lydia Zimmerman yes. 100% agree. It costs for their time, obviously, but well worth it. I use a lady to deal with everything and it is so much easier. At the immigration office she was going through doors that said "no admittance, authorise persons only". The officers know her very well and I did nothing but sit and wait. We even jumped the queue because she knew the procedures.
Out of interest how much is a 90 day non o visa from the Thai embassy in London, I like the idea of doing the groundwork in the UK, then opening the bank account etc when in a Thailand? Thank you in advance
Brett Kemp you are welcome I' might have to reapply for mine due to fly out next Thursday but I will have to wait and see what happens it takes about 10-15 days to process your application I suggest that you do it on a laptop it's easier
Ihsan Yegin it is correct, but the extension of stay isn't a retirement visa as the OP asked about. It's a temporary residence permit based on retirement after the initial 90-day visa. That’s why you’ll have to by a re-entry permit in order to get stamped back in. The visa is gone when you entered the immigration and you got a 90 days permission to stay.
Ray Bingham that’s right. Just do the paperwork. It can be a bit frustrating but it’s not that difficult. Especially if you are retired and don’t have anything else pressing to do.
InspiringLion8038 The extension of the initial 90-day visa is a one-year extension of stay, which is technically not a visa, but a one-year temporary residency permit. The visa itself is gone when you get stamped in at the immigration. That’s why you’ll need to purchase re-entry permits to maintain your stay if you leave. You’ll always have to start with a visa first. Then you apply for yearly extensions, which are technically temporary residence permits limited to one year.
InspiringLion8038 some do, some don't. The Non-O is a 90 day visa from which you can then get a 12 month extension of stay, which is not a visa just permission to remain in the country
