I have to step outside of my zone of comfort. Only because this is a little outside of my comfort zone. If there is anybody that's able to advise me with what's more feasible. Please reach out to me on messenger. I have less than 60 days to stay the course with my original plan. Or do I have to alternate between the two.

Here's the issue. I am all set for my retirement/move to Thailand late August, early September. The only thing I have left is to apply for my retirement. I recently rearranged my first class flight from Thailand to the Philippines. From the Philippines then to Thailand. Saving me a couple thousand dollars. Now here is my issue and why I need help. The cost of the currency exchange and how hard of a is it going to hit me. My goal is Thailand. I should consider staying in the Philippines because of the what is happening with the US dollar. I am struggling with this decision. Apologize for the lengthy post. Hopefully there is somebody with some sound advice. Thanks

Dear all, another quick question if I may. I'm completing the evisa application and it asks for my occupation. I automatically stated my current role but I'm retiring before our planned arrival date in Thailand and plan to apply for a retirement visa once we complete the paper chase. Should I put retired on mine and my wife's applications? The supporting bank statements will show a monthly income at the time of application. As ever, thanks in advance for your advice.

I will be retiring to Krabi in July. Can anyone recommend an area in Krabi where I can live close enough to access to street food but still have a place that feels like I am living immersed in nature.

Ps. If this is not the appropriate forum for this question. Can you please recommend a group where this question would be relevant. Thanks again. 😊

I would be interested to hear from anybody who has decided to self insure in Thailand. I am 67, married to a Thai national, speak Thai and willing to use public health care, as my partner does. Thanks in advance.

I just posted this elsewhere and wanted to share it here because so many have been helpful to me.

Gratitude.......again:

I transitioned my psychologist license to retired today. I no longer need that identity fo feel capable, successful, good about myself, helpful or dedicated. Over the past two years I have discovered that all of those traits have become a part of who I see myself as being, without needing a license or professional title.

I am so grateful that so much of what I helped others to learn for so many years has sunk into my bones, into my essence. I love being accountale for me. There is no blame or resentment of others or outside circumstances now.

My feelings are genuine each time I express them. And, for the most part,, when I have a negative reaction to something, I find myself choosing, to my own amazement, to take action in a gentle and positive ways. because I want to and choose to.

I have found direction in this new career of retirement. I have expanded my family yet again and will move to be with them in Thailand, staying until it is time for me to become dust in the wind.

I have found new ways to love and be loving that are, in part, learned from mistakes in my past, and in part based on the man who is me today, whom I respect and love.

Each day I want the best for others, and myself. My new career takes the path of contribution I learned from my last career and expands upon it exponentially. There is a generosity in my spirit that was always there, and now it is so much more a source of satisfaction because it is no longer attached to expectations of how people or events should act or react.

Each person and event is now a teacher I listen to and feel grateful toward, whether or not I agree with the lesson being offered. I am so grateful to all of you who choose to accept me into any part of your life, big or small.

I am so grateful for this sense of peace. There are so many unknowns that I face with curiosity. And I have found that there are so many out there willing to help me turn the unknowns to either answers or at least give me better direction to find answers. Ir is true that sometimes I just want to be told what to do. And when that happens, even if I take the direction, I recognize that the choice to follow the direction is mine and I am responsible. Other times I most value being given direction about how to find answers myself, after which I gladly share what I have found.

I gratefully thank each of you who have been, are, or will be my helpers and teachers. And I wish blessings to find you .

Is anyone able to tell me what type of taxes you pay after retirement? I believe it has to do with the amount of income? Are you paying alot or a moderate amount?

Hello,

I'll be heading to laos next week(Vientiane) to submit my application and I'm not really sure what to do under the occupation part. I'm not yet at state pension age but do get a small monthly private pension (not a great deal) . I haven't worked for a few years but I don't really need to, so was wondering should I just put unemployed? I have more than the required 500,000 in one account that has been in there for around a year but if I put unemployed I wonder whether they will see the small monthly deposits from the pension fund and get a bit curious? I know no one can say for sure but I'm torn between the putting retirement or unemployed.

Thanks

What is the attitude of Thailand regarding farang retiring here to pass? Like, not the guys who go broke and want to do weird shit before hopping out hotel windows, but just like really old/sick people?
