Cheers Tod - one other question - I'm likely to be flying in and out of Thailand fairly regularly for job interviews in the coming weeks - would you recommend getting a tourist visa and then getting a re-entry permit each time or just continue visa exempt each time and not bother getting a visa?

Hey Tod as long as you have the 3 proof-of's at Savannakhet all should be fine right? This would be my 2nd consecutive tourist visa (last one was from Saigon).

I've been through this process a few times times now and in my experience, both at Immigration and the Ministry of Labour, although your presence is required your voice is not. Assuming your paperwork is in order, beyond saying hello, thank you, and goodbye that should be all - I cant recall being asked a single question by the Officer at either place on any occasion.
