FWIW just departed via DMK T1 (International). 10 minute queue for bag drop and then immigration was about the quietest I've ever seen it - empty counters for both Thai and foreigners. Parking was an absolute bitch though.

My last two trips to Vietnam, the Don Muang immigration queues were quite short, and it didn't take longer than 10 minutes. Two hours before the flight is plenty, as long as you don't have a lot of luggage. Fortunately, Vietnam isn't as popular with Chinese tourists yet as Thailand is.
