the cost to extend here is 1900THB, you get 30 days and it's really easy. There is no 15 day one. Just go to the immigration office by where you are staying, sorry no idea about Kamala beach Every immigration office has different requirements so you'd need to check the local one to see what you need.

If you want the single entry tourist visa, 60 day stamp you apply using the evisa system and no longer have to mail your passport. Manitoba west, select the consulate in Vancouver. If in the east use the embassy in Ottawa. No idea how long it takes but I think the embassy shows 5-7 business days(?).

if you enter visa exempt you get 45 days stamped and can extend for an additional 30 days while here for a total of 75 days. OR you could apply for the Single Entry TR as well, that will get you stamped in for 60 days with the option to extend for 30 while here for a total of 90 days. Visa exempt is easier, you just need to provide your airline proof of onward/return travel at you original departure point. Every time we have left Canada we get asked regardless of airline.

usually $50 or $100 but depends on the amount your withdraw. Most places won't take large bills so go into the bank where you used the ATM and change to smaller bills. Takes about 5-10 minutes usually.

Canada is on a graduated license system. You get your learners then have several more steps to pass before you get fully licensed. In some provinces it takes up to 2 years and requires numerous courses.

You don't get visa on arrival that's only for certain countries. As a CAD, you qualify for visa exempt... which means without a visa.

If you are staying for 2 months, enter visa exempt and get stamped for 45 days on arrival. Then get the 30 days extension which gives you an additional 30 days... so 75 days total. It doesn't take all day to get the extension and depending where you are you can get it done right away so you don't need to plan for it later on. The day you arrive counts as day 1, so you need to keep that in mind.

If you decide to enter visa exempt, you will need proof of onward travel leaving Canada. Every single airline we've left on has asked for it so look at one of those onward ticket services if you aren't sure where you are going next.

Edit - the single entry tourist visa is easy to apply for, it's all online. That will give you a 60 day entry and you can extend for 30 days which is 90 days total if you have the option to stay longer.

I'm going to disagree, just a little bit, with the advice Maxim gave you. I think you should also consider Old City, yes it caters to the backpackers but there are also some nice quieter places for those looking for more comfort. Maybe consider north of Tha Phae gate area or around the night bazaar as well. With the noticable increase in tourists businesses are opening again and there are more places to go.

Nimman is really busy at the moment and getting busier daily. There are also a lot more flights, so plane noise is a factor.

After BKK, I'd do 4-5 days in Chiang Mai, head to Chiang Rai and possibly Pai for a few days as well. Then I'd head south to the Krabi area and travel around the islands for your beaches. Can't speak to Hua Hin as never been.

With doing visa exempt and this being your first time, hunkering down for a month will really limit your exposure to all that Thailand has to offer.

When you head to Malaysia, I'd suggest spending some time in Penang. Been reading lots about it as an excellent retirement option but haven't looked into the details. At least as Canadians we get 90 days entry so easy to take your time.

Have a great time!

We got the extension the same day at immigration office by the airport in Chiang Mai. We originally entered on a Non O obtained in our home country.
