My Canadian passport expires in June 2025. Are they able to transfer the DTV visa to a new passport?

Which countries have you guys had the easiest experience?

Has anybody here tried getting their DTV visa in Manila, Philippines?

Canadian Passport

Entered on 60 day visa exempt

Got the 30 day extension

Got the 60 day (visiting family) married to a Thai extension

Documents (forms);

-TM7

-The Acknowledgement of Penalties for a Visa Overstay

-Acknowledgement of terms and conditions for permit of temporary stay in the kingdom of Thailand

-TM30

-TM6 (it was issued to me at the land border crossing)

-Kor 2

-Wedding Certificate (rose border)

-Wife change name certificate (only if your wife changed her last name to yours)

-Wife birth certificate

-Wife ID card

-Wife house book

-Rental agreement (make sure itā€™s signed by the owner/manager)

Just wanted to give some information regarding the 60 day married to a Thai extension while here in a 60 day exempt stamp.

As I was unsure if I was going to be able to get this extension after the 30 day one. I asked the immigration office when I was there last month and she said it wouldnā€™t be a problem just to make sure my wife was there when I applied. I already knew this as Iā€™ve done this many times in the past.

I got to IT Square around 6:30am and I was first in line. I did book an appointment for 8:30am but it really doesnā€™t matter there because you still have to sit in the queue, which makes no sense.

After the first set of immigration officers looked over my paper work about 5 times, almost as if they were looking for a reason to deny me. Little do they know, Iā€™ve been through this many times and Iā€™ve learned from my past mistakes. I have everything ready the day before, forms filled out, picture, photo copies etc.

After they finally gave me the queue number, I went into the main office area. Again, my paper work is looked over multiple times, just looking for a reason to refuse or make me do something over again. Once again, Iā€™m well prepared.

I will say this, they went over everything with a fine tooth comb. Iā€™d advise that you have copies and the originals for everything. She even pointed out that my old passport number was on one of the wedding forms we filled out back when we registered our marriage. I explained we got married and I had to get a new passport since. No problems there. She then went over our rental agreement, which Iā€™m not on in the first place. She then asked my wife a couple of things and after all that I was told to go sit in the waiting for passport section.

We were in at 8:30am out at 8:50am. It pays to be there nice and early.

Hope this helps someone.

Hi šŸ‘‹

Was wondering if anyone has done a tourist visa application recently in either Penang (George town) or Kuala Lumpur?

How was your experience? Would you recommend one city over the other? And how long did you wait to get your visa?

I understand itā€™s not a fixed processing time but Iā€™m in the processing of deciding which embassy to go to and would love some advice šŸ™‚

Alternatively I can go to Hong Kong and apply for an e-visa there. Has anyone does this before?

By the way, I hold a Canadian passport and I used up all my visa-exempt entries/extensions already (in 2024 I have entered by air 3 times and extended once in Phuket).

Thank you in advance! šŸ™

Hi All. Looking for information and advice. My Thai wife and I as a Canadian spend 6 mos a year in Canada and 6 months in Thailand. In this coming October 2024, instead of flying direct to Bkk, we are thinking of: (i) flying to Japan and stay there maybe 2 weeks, (ii) fly from Japan to Singapore and stay there 4-5 days, (iii) fly from Singapore to Bkk/Udon.

Does anyone see a problem with this? I'm pretty sure Japan does not require a visa for Thai- not sure for me as a Canadian.

I do not know Singapore regs yet. I was in Singapore over 40 years ago, but never Japan.

Thanks very much!

Hi everyone!

My girlfriend and I are heading to Thailand in May for 2 months. After some research I understand that, from Canada, thereā€™s two options for us:

1. We could contact the Thai embassy to get a 60 days visa, but I failed to find the right type of visa we need and how to send it. I have trouble understanding the website so if someone could help us itā€™d really help us please.

2. We could also fly there without visa and then ask for an another 30 days at a local immigration office. BUT we heard that if we donā€™t have a visa or proof that we wont stay longer than 30 days we could be refused at the borderā€¦?

Really donā€™t know what we should do, what do you guys think?

Thank you so much!!

Having a brain fart. I get 30 days visa exempt for Canadian passport. if I arrive Jan 31 in Bangkok and leave Feb 29 that should be exactly 30 days right? I'd have to leave Feb 29 if I arrived Jan 31 right to not overstay?
