Is it possible with a retirement visa to sponsor a wife and three children for dependent visas? If so, is the financial requirement (800,00 baht in a Thai account) different?

Asking for a Canadian friend. His wife is 41, and the oldest child is 13. Thanks in advance!

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, a retirement visa holder can sponsor a wife and three children for dependent visas in Thailand. The financial requirements may differ; specifically, the Canadian passport holder can obtain an Affidavit of Income from the Canadian Embassy in Bangkok, which does not require proof of funds deposited in a Thai bank account.

YES it's possible...

AND as he holds a passport from CANADA... He can obtain the Affidavit of Income from his EMBASSY of Canada in Bangkok with proof of his income and NO PROOF REQUIRED OF FUNDS on deposit in a Thai bank account.

Have him Contact his Embassy in Bangkok.

Denmark started again. They just call it something slightly different, and they now cost 5 times as much to get.

Also PLEASE let him know that it's not for certain that he can get the Non O Visa for his kids... with his wife as trailing. That is uncertain at this time... Phuket is known to be issuing them for the children... but no word on other Thai Immigration Offices issuing them.

The children could get an Ed Visa if they will attend classes in Thailand.
