My experience at the airport with the DTV visa was very smooth.

I was in Taipei for 5 days for my application recently and got back to Bangkok on December 13th.

The immigration person took my passport, looked at it, and without any hassle or hesitation, he stamped it right away.

I'm good to stay now until June 2025!

Thanks again to this group and to everyone who helped me out!

I am Canadian living in Philippines.

I went to apply online and immediately says can only do in person.

If i put any other country as residence it will let me continue.

Has anyone ran into this before? The embassy is 5 hours away so i was hoping to avoid travel just to apply.

And as far as i can see online and in person are the only 2 options ???

Thanks

Confused by everyone's conflicting information.

I'm Canadian

90 day air ticket booked and paid. If I arrive without a visa and just get visa free stamp on arrival for the 60 days but intend to add another 30 days extension. Will the lack of an exit flight in 60 days time be an issue. Or will the 90day exit flight I have booked make sense.

Here is my DTV story. I am Canadian and have been living mostly in Thailand since January, 2022. This is my 5th time applying for an evisa in Canada. 2 SETV, 2 non-ED, and now the DTV. I had planned to apply for the workation category but I had a few concerns.

1. I am a non resident of Canada for tax purposes (I don't pay income tax in Canada). I saw many posts here of people either being asked for or voluntarily submitting their tax returns with their applications. As a tax resident of Thailand with no assessable income besides bank interest, I don't really have anything to submit in this regard.

2. Most of my income is from my own company registered in Hong Kong. I saw some posts here saying that some embassies were asking for company registration documents to be notarized by the embassy of the country where the company is registered or even not accepting a company registered outside of your home country or the country where you apply.

3. The workation category asks for too much personal information in my opinion. I suspect this information may be shared with the revenue department for future income tax collection if staying in Thailand over 180 days per year. Especially if they change the law to tax income not brought into Thailand, which seems to be under consideration.

After reading many posts here I realized that the soft power medical treatment category was the best option for me. The requirements are much simpler with much less scrutiny.

I was planning to apply a few weeks before my return to Thailand in October so I could use the visa for 1 last entry in 5 years from now and get 5.5 to 6 years out of the visa (I usually spend the summer in Canada and go back in early October). However I kept thinking that this visa is too easy and surely they will change it soon to make it more difficult. The anxiety was getting to me so I decided I better apply sooner than later.

I applied to the Ottawa embassy through the evisa system on Sept 2 and was approved today (Sept 10).

For my medical treatment, I started doing immunotherapy for allergies (allergy shots) at an allergy clinic before I left Thailand. I completed 15 out of the initial 40 weekly injections for the initial phase.

I had some documents with me from the clinic because I planned to check with a doctor in Canada about continuing the injections here. I asked a friend in Thailand to go to the clinic and ask for another document showing that I have a confirmed appointment in October to continue the treatment.

After the initial 40 weekly injections, there is a maintenance phase which requires injections at less frequent intervals. I feel confident that I can justify my continued use of this visa over 5 years if immigration starts asking for proof of continued medical treatment upon entry.

For the proof of funds, I used a statement from a Thai bank account. I requested a statement for August through the SCB app and it was sent to me by email. The only complication is that the PDF is protected with a password which is your date of birth. To remove this password, open the PDF, print, and then choose print as PDF. This will create another PDF without the password.

For proof of current location I used my Canadian drivers licence.

These 3 documents were the only documents requested by the evisa system. My application was approved without being asked for anything additional. No air ticket was required to be submitted but I had to enter a date for a flight out of Thailand as part of the application. I entered around 180 days out from my fight into Thailand but I don't think this really matters. I haven't booked a flight out of Thailand yet and not sure if I will bother. My understanding is that the flight out is not a requirement when entering with a visa, it's only required when entering on a visa exemption?

I'm very grateful for this new visa category. As someone under 50 and not married, this is exactly what I needed. I applied for an "elite" visa last year before the price increase but I was denied for having a previous ED visa even though it was from a real school and I was really studying. Turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Saved myself 1 Million baht!

Hi, I have a question about the 500k baht requirement for Canadians. I'm sorry if this has been asked already (I couldn't find anything specifically addressing this).

Do funds within a Tax-Free Savings Account (TFSA) satisfy this requirement? I've read that "Investment" accounts through a brokerage won't work but in this case, I have a single TD Bank account that shows my usual Chequing/Savings accounts but also my TFSA and RRSP.

Thank you for any insight!

We are married Canadians, 60+, Like everyone we got 30 days visa free at the airport, we will extend 30 days at immigration in Hua Hin, then around 60 days, we will leave the country to Cambodia, and return a few days later, I assume we can get another 30 day visa free on our return at the BKK airport, and get a 30 day extension again, and repeat 1 more time, we only want/need 6 months total on this trip, we will apply for a retirement visa next year, will we be OK doing this?

Hi, I have been lurking for a while, reading posts and getting a feel for the vibe. I’m a

66 year old Canadian woman planning on moving to Thailand (either Chiang Mai or Koh Lanta). Right now I live in BC, and have a lot of stuff to get rid of. I also have a Jack Russell who will be almost 10 when I make the move. I am looking to talk to a Canadian who has done this. Another woman around my age would be better, having a dog another plus! But I would be happy to talk with any Canadian who has done this. Very interested in the Canadian side of things, like how can I keep a Canadian bank account without an address etc. Please DM me if you feel like sharing. TIA

EDIT: I was in Thailand last spring for 2 months, mostly spending my time in Koh Lanta and Chiang Mai. My son lives in SE Asia and I want to be closer to him. I am looking for fellow Canadians who have made the move.

Hello,

Canadian coming to Thailad for just shy of four months.

My visa plan is as follows:

Get 60 day tourist visa in Canada, before arrival in Thailand.

Get the 30 day extention as 60 day tourist visa ends.

Leave Thailand as the extension ends (so 90 days in Thailand so far). When i return to Thailand, I will automatically get a stamp for another 30 days? Is this correct?

How long do I need to leave Thailand for? I will likely leave for a couple of days, but is leaving and returning on the same day an option?

It looks like the multi entry visa would eliminate my trip to extend my 60 day visa for another 30 days. But considering the cost difference for the single / multi visa, I think I am fine to do the trip to extend my 60 day visa.

Am I correct to assume I would have no 90 day check in with this scenario?

Thanks 😎

Hi kind folks.

50+ Canadian here planning to apply for Non O-X Retirement Visa in Canada.

Questions:

1) How long does the 3million bhat need to be seasoned in Thai bank

account?

2) Does the Royal Thai Consulate here in Canada issue the visa stamp/acceptance papers?

3) My spouse is not over 50, Phillipine passport and is a PR with me here in Canada, how/when does she apply for her dependent visa

Advice and actual experience much appreciated.
