Yes, once this visa is issued, it is a 5 year multientry visa regardless of the length of the program you are approved for.

The idea would be to encourage you to return again over the 5 yrs.

The only exception is that if you intend to do an incountry extension, you will have to qualify again for finances and possibly courses, (that is unseen yet).

As well as the extension fee of 10k.

It would make no sense to extend in country, just leave and reenter requires nothing.

If you qualify get it NOW before they tighten the qualifications.

no it has changed.

There is no limit land, sea or air.

But they will be looking closer at your entry history, if someone is trying to live in Thailand on tourist stamps its going to be more difficult.

Sorry common law is not recognized.

Once obtained it is a 5 year visa regardless if you don't even attend whatever reason you used, cooking, may thai etc.

If you are going to apply do it now.

I would expect the requirements to become more stringent in the near future.

no they cannot.

It is a 60 day visa EXEMPT (no visa) entry that can be extended for 30 days once inside Thailand.

Now expanded to 93 countries.

@Peter ******
it is not a ED visa.

It is a "leisure" tourist visa.

No requirement but to enjoy Thailand.

It's crazy but it's true.

@Helen *******
as this is brand new for all.

Did you apply at the same time ?

or has the primary already obtained the visa?

In some visas the primary obtains theirs first, then the dependants apply with the appropriate documentation, proof of relationship, visa etc.

If you all applied at once I wonder if that may be why.

No Thai dependant visas require funds, as per BKK this is the same.

I asked this exact question and was answered 500k per family NOT per applicant.

I hope that they are able to sort it out, for many that would be a deterrent.

Just to note, this was asked during an official immigration information program.

contact the embassy directly and they will tell.you how to bypass the requirement for a dependant.

so the applications are all similar.

In the case of asking for finances for dependant I would recommend uploading the primary person's bank statement or you could try creating a photo that says not applicable.

This works with non-o visas when they are asking for things that don't apply.

OR contact the embassy directly on how they want to see it.

OFFICIALLY And verified it is 500k per family.

However the evisa sites etc are not up to speed.
