Do I need to be in my home country to apply for a DTV visa or can I apply from Indonesia?

When I initially applied for the DTV visa, I was in my home country. After weeks of going back and forth submitting some documents, the date of my flight was due and I decided to just go to Thailand and get a tourist visa on arrival.

It’s been 2 months and the initial DTV visa application is still open. I was in Thailand on a tourist visa all that while. I left Thailand few days ago and flew to Indonesia.

I attempted to submit more documents into that original avtive DTV application while being in Indonesia, but now they are asking for a flight ticket from my home country to Thailand. But I had already left my home country -> Thailand and now I’m in Indonesia.

The question is, do I need to be in my home country when applying for a DTV visa? Does it matter if I send them a flight ticket from Indonesia to Thailand?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster is inquiring whether they must be in their home country to reapply for a DTV visa after facing issues with their application while currently in Indonesia. Comments suggest that the applicant needs to be in the country through which they applied and submitting a flight ticket from Indonesia to Thailand may lead to a visa denial. Several commenters recommend purchasing a refundable flight ticket to fulfill application requirements.

do not provide them with a ticket from Indonesia, if you do you will be refused. I advise you to buy a 100% refundable plane ticket from your country of residence to Thailand. I experienced the same situation a few months ago I bought a 100% refundable one-way ticket from Qatar Airways. I refunded my ticket after my visa was approved

These questions are getting ridiculous🙄 hard to even finish reading them. YOU 100% HAVE TO BE IN A DIFFERENT COUNTRY AND CANNOT BE INSIDE OF THAILAND WHEN YOU APPLY FOR A DTV VISA!! What is the confusion on this?🤷‍♂️ the rest of your concern isn’t even a concern ..🙈

Yup you do.

You just have all the list of mistakes you can do to f*ck up application… try to tell them the truth, but most likely you’ll have to do all again and lose your fees of course

Just be honest and say you had booked flights provided and that you thought the visa would be through in time, openly ask if that is a problem. 2 months is a long time to approve. Then you know. Honesty is best policy.

honesty does not pay in this case, I speak from experience

So basically the best thing to do at the moment would be to cancel the application from my home country and re-apply in Indonesia?

So you're saying I could book a refundable ticket from my home country to Thailand and send that to the current active application? Can't they see that I am already out of the country in Indonesia?

And let's say that the application gets approved, there's still a chance that the immigration officer in Thailand will question why I'm coming from Indonesia rather than my home country?

Do you travel with a guardian?

No worry

If they don't trust you, they can see you were in Thailand, every entry and exit is registered, but I don'r expect the embassy in your home country to have direct access to that data, but if they want, they can get it.

The immigration officer at the the airport is unlikely to notice anything unless you are flagged in their system.

@Kevin *****
nope, either you should book a refundable ticket from home country to thailand or buy one from Indonesia to Thailand and explain the situation and come clean.... because if they request the whole passport then you can get in trouble
Tom *****
@Muhammad *****
they don't request for a whole passport. A refundable ticket from home country to Thaïland will be ok

@Tim ********
je can't use this kind of ticket because it last in 72 hours max . The application Can make longer to get aprouved. Hé must buy a refundable ticket

@Tim ********
onward tickets normally have very short validity

Some will do up to a week or two for a higher charge.

Very very good chance you're hooped. You can try sending a refundable ticket as mentioned for maybe a couple weeks from now. If they ask for proof of your current location or all passport pages then likely kiss your 10K goodbye.

No more stamp in Indonesian immigration

Which embassy did you apply from ?
Chris *******
If you send a flight from Indonesia they will likely cancel it as you are supposed to be in the country you applied.

If you applied in your home country then that is where they expect you to be during the application and approval time.
John *******
You need to be in the country which you were in when you applied.
Muhammad ******
maybe just book a refundable flight ticket and then return it.

@Muhammad *****
they’ll probably ask for a copy of ALL his passport pages and then he’ll be found out.

then it would be on him... but i asked something similar to Thai embassy in Kuala Lumpur, they said if you apply with us, at the time of applying you must be in KL, after that you can go to any other country other than Thailand, but if we request for Interview then you must be present in the country where you have applied. If not then you can receive the visa if approved.
