Hello, we are a family of 4 thinking of doing a DTV. We are hesitating between Jakarta and Cambodia. We'll only have 500,000 baht for a few weeks for the whole family, which seems to be ok for Jakarta but not sure about Cambodia. Has anyone applied with the same type of situation or anyone knows if Cambodia would be ok with us having 500.000 baht for a few weeks for my husband, our 2 kids and me?
**DTV approved on 🇮🇳 Indian passport in Cambodia! ✌️🎉
**Grateful to everyone who shared their experiences—it helped tremendously! I had applied under workation category. Sharing my experience and timelines.
22nd Feb - Arrived in Siem Reap from Bangkok. Applied the same night around 11 PM.
Documents submitted
* Proof of current location - Cambodian QR code arrival sticker (did not get traditional sticker visa and immigration stamp), boarding pass, Airbnb booking for 1 month of stay here.
* Financial evidence - Last 3 months' bank statement with over 500k THB balance for all months and my last tax filing.
* Employment info - Letter from my employer confirming I can work remotely and attached last 3 months of salary slips.
24th Feb - Request for documents - Immigration stamp.
I had already uploaded the QR code based arrival sticker Cambodian immigration pasted on my passport (it has arrival date, days of stay etc). But I guess this is a very recent change, and Thai embassy was still expecting the regular immigration stamp. I responded within an hour and uploaded the same QR code sticker and added an explanation that I did not receive the traditional visa sticker or immigration stamp.
25th Feb - Request for documents - work agreement and company registration
Uploaded my original offer letter and had to quickly arrange for the CIN (certificate of incorporation) from my employer. Uploaded both documents same day.
11th March, 9:15 AM - Received email approval with e-visa PDF valid for 5 years! 🎉
Total time - 12 business days with two document requests. I was aware of processing timelines for Cambodia and since I was here for a month, I was chill about it.
Excited to call Thailand my new home from next month. Happy to answer any questions! 🙏
Anybody did DTV online or in person at immigration in Cambodja? Currently in Bangkok and was thinking about taking a flight to Phnom Penh. Since it's just an 1hour flight for around 1000-2000baht.
Anyone had any success there or planning the same thing?
What I heard is that they are opening up e-visa.
Does it go faster if you go straight to the immigration?
DTV approved in Cambodia. Huge thanks to everyone in this group for sharing their experiences.
I have a UK passport, applied as a freelancer (I'm a freelance writer working for UK and US companies) and filed my e-visa application on Friday 20th December, to the Phnom Penh embassy while staying in Siem Reap. Received my approved DTV on Wednesday 1st January. Pretty impressed, they must've been working through the holidays.
My application included:
Proof of location: Sent my Booking for the hotel in Siem Reap, this initial booking was only for five days. (Stayed at VPlus Hotel on Taphul Road, highly recommend them, super nice / efficient / great wifi / very affordable.)
Proof of funds: Sent in 6 months of bank statements for this section. Just used my savings account statements, there's not a lot of action there.
Proof of work etc: I wrote a detailed cover letter on what I do, who I work for, why I had an education visa last year and why I am swapping visa type now, why I love visiting Thailand and then outlined the documents to follow so it was all really comprehensive.
I then included a letter from my main client on their headed company paper which said how long I've worked for the company and how I can do my job from anywhere in the world. Following that I added a few pages of my work portfolio. Then most of my contracts from different clients through 2024. This all came to 52 pages in total.
I used ilovepdf to merge and compress everything to the right size, so I could upload them. Thanks to a previous poster James for sharing this tip. It's free and easy to use.
The next working day after my application, the embassy asked for my entry stamp into Cambodia to be uploaded, so I photographed that page of my passport and filed it immediately on Monday 23rd December. That's the only additional evidence they asked for at all.
Siem Reap was a brilliant place to wait it out. It's a slow paced little city. Loads of good cafes to work in. Obviously bundles of cultural stuff to do. I was lucky to have two friends with me who also did their DTV applications at the same time (US passport holders, freelance, filed the day before me, and received their approved visas the day before me also) so it felt less nerve wracking. Happy New Year all!
Applying for DTV online at Phnom Penh. Is it safe to leave Cambodia and go to Laos or Vietnam while your DTV application is processing? And then once approved go to Thailand?
Has anybody contacted the Cambodia immigration in regards to DTV? Been pending approval now for 2 weeks and no movement. My company require me to have this in place by Monday or I’ll have to fly back to uk. Any advise would be great.
Planning a trip to Cambodia. Want to also visit BuriRam and Surin in Thailand. No matter how I plan, it seems like I need to enter either Thailand or Cambodia two times. With Visa on Arrival is there any issue with me entering Thailand, then going to Cambodia, then re-entering Thailand? Planning a three week trip and flying in/out of BKK. Other option is to fly in/out of Phnom Pehn. I think the tourist visas for both countries offer single entry. Any thoughts? Not interested in paying hundreds to get a business visa.
