I need some legal understanding, if someone would be kind enough to clarify this for me. We are having an internal family debate over the Thai government website in regarding opening a bank account.
We have the DTV visas, and IF we bring money into a thai bank account - so foreign income that WAS already had paid tax on in Australia, is apparently to be TAXED here again if you spend over 180 days in year.
I know SO many people WHO have bank accounts here that live here for a long time and do not pay tax.
My partner thinks that whatever is on the government website is in fact law and is protected from it…
Could someone please clarify. Thank you
(Putting this in multiple pages to get more reach to hopefully get the right answers). Thank you
Has anyone managed to get a Thai Tax Identification number. How was the process. They are saying after 180 days here we become tax residents, but can’t open bank accounts etc. was just wandering how straightforward it is to get the TIN? Many thanks. 🙏🏻
My apologies to the group for trying to post just a video I didn't realise this wasn't allowed. The video I was trying to post has information regarding the new tax requirements for foreigners living in Thailand. Hopefully if I attach it with this post it will be allowed?
With the topic of paying tax when in Thailand more than 180days, how would one go about actually filling in a tax form. Also just for interest who keeps tabs on your stay?
We want to go for the retirement visa (or LTV), but do you have to pay tax in Thailand over your worldwide income, your money in your bank account (Wise in my case) or whatever you put in your Thai bankaccount?
Do you also pay tax over the 800k that you have in your Thai bank account for securing the visa? If so, once or every year?
