It’s somewhat of a chore to open one in person. Over the internet, or phone is impossible.

They always got rejections in one place and approvals with the same documents in another country. What are you basing your advice on? Hearsay? There are people getting DTV visas approved everyday

Right now if you are at home and want to do more tourist visits the only visa worth getting is Multiple Entry Tourist Visa.

Single entry tourist visas are useless at the moment, because of the 60 day visa exemption and a issued tourist visa is no guarantee of entry.

I was coming back from Cambodia once and there was a group doing border runs, most had no visas, some had tourist visas issued in Cambodia and while everyone else passed through immigration unmolested, the ones with tourist visas were questioned

Nothing has been mentioned on the news for 5 months about this. They have bigger things to worry about. Maybe next year they will say more.

I send money to the country even though I spend most of the year outside Thailand and I have family so don’t tell me what to talk about. I don’t know who tf you are to be gatekeeping Thailand.

even if they did not freeze all accounts, there are hundreds or reports of long term visa holders whose accounts were frozen for no reason. While I admit I made a mistake when writting this. It does not warrant you getting so offended. especially since you are not an employee of the bank. I will edit the comment to correct the mistake, but other than that everything I said was correct.

They now ask you to actually get your visa renewed, like if you leave the country when your visa is over, they will block your account and you have to prove that you got a new one, which is not dictated by Thai law, or by their vague and abusive terms and conditions.

I am pretty sure they are doing this only because they know the foreigners whose accounts have been frozen won’t bother to make a legal complaint.

The fact that they are the only bank doing this shows what a bunch of tools they are. Kbank only asked me 4 months in advance to get a phone number registered in my name and visit the branch. I came back to Thailand on a visa exemption and went there with the AIS receipt. They took my passpoet and receipt, amd later told me I can keep using the mobile app.

Leaving thousands of people who commited no crime without access to their money is an abuse that only a cretinous person could justify. My hope is that expats realize this and teach them a lesson by moving their money to other banks

8193 if you think about it, is a very small number of denied entries. On Chinese New Year, there were at least 2000 foreigners doing border runs at Poipet. I honestly think that the so called “cracking down” on “visa exempt border runs is just hearsay.

In June; I returned from Cambodia on my 10th visa exemption in the past few years, a few weeks after the government announced on the news that they will do “rigorous checks” at land borders for visa exemption abuses and out of a group of 200 people no one was held for more than half a minute at the immigration booth
