TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is facing difficulties accessing their Kasikorn Bank app due to it being disabled while they are out of Thailand. Various comments suggest possible reasons such as expired phone numbers or issues with account verification that may require a visit to the bank in Thailand. Many users share similar experiences and frustrations regarding banking protocols, especially concerning the need for in-person verification and KYC requirements. The user is seeking guidance on how to resolve the issue remotely.

I remember the good ole days when banking was globally easy. The countering of scammers in Thailand is making life harder for non-scammers. I’ll bet scammers are still scamming.

KBank has an official email-address and an official LINE-account. Thats how you contact them. Just do a Google search.

KYC. From what we have seen, you have to visit the branch.

Everyone got the message in the K+ App months ago to ensure that name and ID registered on mobile no. matches exactly name and ID of bank account. They gave time to clarify it either with the phone no provider or bank. Everybody had the chance to check even online with line messenger Kbanklive. And you get the answer immediately. You can check it now by typing @checksim in the line messenger.

@Sue *********
The message about a matching name a phone number was about numbers added a certain month (I don't remember what month) in 2022. There were about 700,000 numbers that were a bit suspicious.
Sue **********
@Max ************
well we have our Thai mobile no. since 2023. There is nothing suspicious about it. We registered the no. with our names and ID and our K+ app was suspended last week due to whatever mismatch of names.
Max *************
@Sue *********
Read my comment again,if you can read and understand simple English.I told you the reason why KBank informed people about registering phone numbers from 2022.
Sue **********
@Max ************
why so condescending? I can read english and the message from Kbank was clear to me. Had nothing to do with suspicious numbers from 2022.

Per haps you can explain to me why my K+App got suspended due to mismatch of my name on my mobile no and KBank acc. Thank you

That’s happening to a lot of people it seems there want to verify your info several friends had to go to AIS,Dtac and get a letter confirming there number I had to go into TTB bank with passport and they go over everything it’s got to do with all the scam bank accounts

@Bob *********
the blame the Chinese but make all farangs suffer for it. Its never safe to keep money in thai bank anymore. Bangkok bank sent a statement out last week that they have the right to freeze access if you don't follow visa requirements. So now banks are immigration enforcement. Total bullshit
Chris *********
@Matthew ********
yeah I only use mine for every day use, dont hold any significant funds in there usually enough for a couple weeks or so at a time, this whole fiasco is just an inconvenience
Matthew *********
@Chris ********
same, only keep a week budget at a time
Bob **********
@Matthew ********
they will never not refund your money unless it shady and that won’t come from the bank
Chris *********
@Bob *********
i did this is April with AIS & Kasikorn, now 2 months later my accounts been frozen anyway. My advice, dont hold all your money in the Thai account as you never know when they will try some bullshit like this.
Bob **********
@Chris ********
what visa did you open your account on,there freezing and closing accounts opened on an exempt stamp or tourist visa and some opened by agents
Chris *********
@Bob *********
im on elite visa and was opened through proper channels with elite representatives in 2021, so I dont think thats the reason. Im heading to the branch today although being a holiday they may not be open.
Bob **********
@Chris ********
they won’t be opened,but I’m sure it’ll be straightened out for you good luck have a good holiday

Thai banks operate only for their own benefit. The operatives actively avoid work particularly if a farang is the client.
Lynnette *******
@Mike *****
you have to verify accounts in other countries too. My son can't get a new bank card in UK after 20 years of having an account at his UK address, unless he flies back in and shows them his passport. . again.

? Why do you keep saying my name? 🤦
Lynnette *******
My friend had to fly in from USA to verify his account. So he could do transfers etc. I don't use apps on my phone so only have a bank book.
Ling *****
@Lynnette ******
probably the safest way to guard your account but it is so handy to do a cardless withdrawal anytime at the ATM.
Lynnette *******
@Ling ****
he just needed his new card but they won't provide one. So unless he flies back to UK it's an account with no real access. 🤷
Eddie ********
Just had the same as my wife’s phone was set up under my name and new Thai rules state they have to be the same. Had to go to phone provider and get them to change the name as per Bank Account holder, needed Passport and Blue Book. Then to K Bank with the receipt the phone provider gave you and go into the K Bank and give it to them. Again with Passport etc and they will make the changes. Then can take 3 days to process mean while bank account suspended so no transactions. Took over 4 hours waiting in the AIS shop and the bank. Disaster and not sure how you can do it without going to each place in person. Good Luck

Well, this is the website for banking with Kasikorn. But.......I think it needs separate registration. Have this (when there was no app) already 12-plus years, but with me it still works.

Did you submit this form
Ling *****
@Arpan *****
i have held my Kasikorn Account for 13 years now and I have never been asked to do any of that. I was however asked to complete facial recognition in any branch so I did it last week and I also received a new bank book as the old one was full. Even then wasn't asked for anything extra.
Kim *********
@Ling ****
incredible - if I'm not mistaken I was asked for that from my 2 banks more than a year ago
Ling *****
@Kim ********
Bangkok Bank did it 2 years ago for me. Then I wanted to do the same at Kasikorn and I was promptly told "foreigners have to wait 6 months". 2 year later I got the message on the app to come in.
Christopher ******
@Arpan *****
that should only be for citizens or residents of the USA

pretty sure those forms only apply to Americans.

I am trying to avoid that if I could get onto Internet banking but they don't seem to have it.
Chaisaeng ********
@Richard *******
yes, not completely robust Internet banking.

I had sent people in Thailand to go to investigate in person at the relevant bank in Bangkok, and still a no, no one can do the update of my Internet banking account for me, I also cannot do it remotely, I must go to the bank in person.

Because the bank had update their system.

Adam ******
Did you originally open your bank account with one of the visas that they now require? A few things have changed recently. Some folks have had their accounts frozen.
Matthew *********
@Adam *****
yep they are finding new ways to steal our money. New excuse if they can't verify your phone number they will suspend your account and freeze your money. I personally went into bangkok bank to update my number and it took 7 days to update. Suspended my app during the time. So much bullshit to have a thai bank account.
Kim *********
@Matthew ********
really? I have accounts in 2 banks - absolutely no problems
Matthew *********
@Kim ********
you don't represent every body and you must not read on her daily people having more problems trying to open bank account. And you must not have read the bangkok Post about bangkok bang to seize money to follow immigration and visa required amounts. Glad you had no problem so I quess all the other people posting daily are lying. I guess your just so special.
Kim *********
@Matthew ********
totally nonsense - and you don't represent everybody. I was commenting on your very negative post about Thai banks so I am absolutely entitled to express my experience.
Matthew *********
@Kim ********
I guess you should read Adams post. Just as stated would happen. Not negative it's facts and information which you seem not to have a clue what's going on.
Kim *********
@Matthew ********
well many has no problems which you seem to know nothing about. So good for some - that only read about the problems experienced by a number of people - to know that others do not have any problems. That was the purpose of my answer to your negative remarks - stealing your money. Call that a fact if you choose - but you calling it a fact doesn't make it a fact.

Two weeks ago a friend of mine went into his branch to do a transaction. He was told he couldn't as his account was frozen. He was taken to one side by the manager and informed that his account had been opened using a visa that was no longer acceptable. Luckily for him he had applied for a long term extension only a week before. He showed the manager the 'under consideration' stamp in his passport. They unfroze his account but he has to go back and show them his proper visa once he gets it approved and stamped in his passport.
