Transfer directly from your bank in UK to the bank in which you have an account in Thailand. Revolut is of no use in the case you mention.

Obtaining a bank account is not too difficult. But try to be recommended by a big client of a particular branch. There is still a recommendation form for that.

Rules are strict now concerning bank accounts. They must be linked to a long-term visa. If you don't have one any longer, you will still have your bank account for some time only.

You should take time to learn what are the existing visas. Then going to Vientiane or anywhere in Laos is a good idea. You can come back the same day with a visa exemption only, provided that the immigration thinks you can still have one. For any kind of visa, you have to apply online in Laos or any other country. It takes at least 2-3 working days for a tourist visa and more time, sometimes much more time, for other categories of visa.

You can take a flight with your passport and an other document. You can also take a bus or a train.

Do it with the hospital you stay at, and which has your health records.

No need to change your passport now, especially if many pages are still available. If you do it when you are in Thailand, the process with immigration is simple.
