Phuket immigration told me 6 years ago that I’m too early to extend and i should come again in a week. I told them that i will be traveling and last time struggled together with a taxi driver to find the Nakhon ratchasima immigration office. It wasn’t a lie and i got the stamp. They’re just human and you can politely ask for an exception. While customs and immigration is the same in some countries, here it’s not and you can visit any immigration office without good to a border. I found that offices near tourist destinations have more English speaking staff
I had a letter from bumrungrad hospital saying that I had to visit my doctor every 3 months with the next appointment on date x. My agent who handled my paperwork previously gave me the description in thai which i just forwarded to the hospitals expat department. Together with proof of funds, and income sources i uploaded the maximum file size allowed lol. I thought the more documents the better. That’s what i fid in the past even for tourist visa. Overwhelming them with papers and they never asked for more. I was still happy to have the agent collecing all documents and submitting them to the correct place. Expensive but more convenient. Could have done it alone for cheap, but the information i found was not always consistent and a bit confusing
I recommend spending a few months here before even thinking of permanently moving here. I had multiple 3 month-visits and changed my mind about places to live multiple times. People ruined their lives before. I have a decent pension and don’t live in luxury but a good life. I’m not thinking about getting citizenship though
I used airportels in suvarnabhumi B floor. They’re also in don muang and even some shopping centers. Caution: if you ask staff for directions, they might understand airport hotel and direct you to the hotel which has an entrance in the same floor. They even deliver the luggage between locations and to/from your hotel. I left my wheelchair towing machine with them. You can take the airport rail link easily with you carry on right next to their counter
thanks. Since I’m handicapped, it’s very inconvenient to drive in a bus/minivan to nong khai. That’s why i thought just fly to vte, turn around to check in to Bangkok again. At least found out that I don’t need a visa for laos 😱
