Has Anyone with a DTV left prior to the 6mo and returned via BKK airport?

What’s the process vs. extension?
Answer summary
Several users confirmed that entering Thailand with a DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) before the 6-month expiration is straightforward, as it is a multiple-entry visa. Upon returning, travelers receive a new 180-day stamp each time they enter the country. The entry process involves showing the DTV visa printout upon arrival and may include answering minimal questions related to the purpose of their stay. Experiences shared indicate that re-entering through both Suvarnabhumi (BKK) and Don Mueang (DMK) airports was hassle-free, with no significant issues reported.

Leaving - scanned my passport electronically and that was it.

Arrival - provided my visa document and passport to IO - asked to scan my biometrics again. Smiled and waved me thru. I was the only one who spoke during the process, hello and thank you In Thai.

At BKK the agent wanted to see my DTV visa printout and ask a couple of basic questions relating to living in Thailand, no issues really.

I lwft through DMK and returned to BKK. Im allowed to use fast pass lane ( at least staff push my wheelchair through it). Only one question in blk: what’s the purpose of stay? My answer was correct:,longmedical treatment at bumrungrad, do you want to see the hospital documents? He smiled and stamped 180 days

It doesn't matter when you leave. It's a multiple entry visa. You receive a 180 day stamp EVERY TIME you enter Thailand. You can leave and return every week if you want, and you'll get a new 180 stamp each time.

yea, that’s not my question.

Do you have a DTV? Have you returned through BKK after leaving?

If you have relevant and real life experience with this I would like to hear from you.

Reading from the Thai text book is something we can all do, thanks.

yes, I do (I'm not the same person). I travel in and out almost once a month. Always get 180 days upon each entry. No questions asked. I've used both BKK and DMK. What

said was already an answer, tho. Because those are the rules anyways.

thanks Calvin.

I heard that also about a month ago.

I have no worries about my DTV. Applied while I was home in Los Angles with 100% verified paperwork and taxes.

I guess my only issue was a post I saw where if you apply for a 6mo extension inside Thailand, that immigration wants you to provide almost the full paperwork flow and bank balance info.

I don’t just park $15k cash liquid in my account and I guess I would rather leave and return, then go through all that plus $1900 bht.

I guess 6 months is plenty to be in Thailand.

What’s the feeling in the group about this?

thanks Brandon, that’s kinda my feeling and from the comments I think it’s the wise choice. Leave and the reenter.

Gives me a chance to visit somewhere or just to go to the USA to visit the family.

This is a great Visa and I’m content on playing by the rules (whatever that means in Thailand)

It also gives some time for the whole taxation discussion to play out a bit too.

I won’t be extending mine in country, regardless of whether I’ve got all the documents and backup to do it, I just can’t be bothered to sift through and do it all again lol. I’ll be coming in and out, as I think it’s the easiest thing to do…… up to you though mate haha. 🙏

Most immigration offices are requiring you to show the money has been in the bank for at least 30 days. Chiang Mai won't even accept a foreign bank account, but the official rules say that it's acceptable. The approval rate for applying for an extension in country is about 2% based on reports from Phuket, Bangkok and Chiang Mai. Most immigration officers even recommend leaving and returning.

so basically, there’s been a few things raised about entering thru to get a new stamp rather than extending in country.

Firstly, let it be clear it’s a lot easier to get a new stamp by leaving and re entering, than it is applying in country.

However - ofc there’s always a caveat lol, it has been reported by quite a few people that if you’ve applied for the DTV in a country such as Laos, Cambodia or neighbouring countries, you can be subject to scrutiny upon your arrival into BKK.

This can include (but not limited to): verification of your documents used to apply for the visa, live check of available funds and a few other things.

It is rare, but it seems to be happening a lot more often nowadays. Of course, you could always avail of the secure entry methods which are advertised a lot. I wouldn’t be in a position to recommend one to you, however :)
