Good afternoon. I entered Thailand with DTV in august 24. so i need to extend. I applied under medical soft power and already printed all documents from Bumrungrad hospital. Due to high medical costs and co-pay from insurance, my foreign bank account can’t keep the same balance for months. I printed evidence of income with embassy signature. But if they still want to see a steady balance, I could print a sponsorship letter from relatives. I believe this was meant for emplpyers. Did someone try private sponsorship? I don’t like long bus trips and would prefer to avoid border jumps 🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on extending their DTV visa in Thailand, expressing concerns about showing a steady bank balance and considering sponsorship. The responses suggest that the safest and most straightforward solution is to take a short flight to a neighboring country, like Vietnam, to avoid the stringent extension requirements. Various comments emphasize that a quick border run is preferable to trying to extend the visa within Thailand given the strict regulations.

Just bounce out and back to get a NEW 180 day entry stamp

you're making it harder than it is with your idea that you "need" to extend inside the country. BOUNCE OUT & BACK 🙂

No need for a long bus trip. Take a short plane ride.

For an extension you need to show the 500k baht in your bank so a border bounce is your best bet

Don’t risk it. Just do a trip to Vietnam or similar and have your new stamp. It’s the safest way in your situation. Extensions in country are strict.

if they decline, can’t I just do this after i tried? Leave enough time before overstaying, of course

I would imagine it will be recorded on immigration history, and it’s all available to see to border agents.

Personally I would bounce without trying extension.

Not worth the risk in my mind.

If you haven't got the 500k in an account then just take a flight to Vietnam and back again
