What should I do if my name is incorrect on my approved DTV visa for Thailand?

*Update*

Suvarnabhumi, connecting flight to Chiang Mai, took about 2 minutes, all he asked was if I have 2 nationalities, and I said yes and told him them (didnt ask to see my other passport) and stamped me in, no other questions, didnt ask about the incorrect name, and sent me straight through :)

My DTV visa was approved, but I noticed they have got my name wrong.

I have a double barrel first name, and submitted my name the same as my passport, however they put my name twice, as first and middle name, which I definitely didn't write

First Name- Rose-Marie

Middle Name- Marie Anne

I guess I wont be allowed to enter with the incorrect name, and have to apply again, but my visa was approved with the incorrect name, will I have issues reapplying, as I'll technically have 2 visas?

P.s I have attempted to call the embassy, they do not answer

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user shares that their DTV visa was approved but contains a name error where their double barrel first name has been incorrectly documented. They express concern about how this error might affect their entry into Thailand and whether they will face issues reapplying for the visa. Community members suggest attempting entry with the current visa, reaching out to the embassy via email to correct the error, and some share similar experiences without issues. General consensus leans toward minimal potential problems.

I have umlauts (ä) in my passport and usually have to type ae into online forms instead. Otherwise it says invalid character lol. Years ago i had trouble with an airline because of that but never had this problem in asia. Thai embassy in Switzerland told me they know ae means ä and thry dont expect me to have any trouble which in the end was right. There’s not even a key for that in most computer keyboards. That’s when the check in guy in cyprus tried to find the Ä and let me on board

Congratulations 👏👏👏

Please update us after you arrive in Thailand.

PRINT OUT THE EMAIL THAT HAS YOUR DTV VISA.

That's what you should do... print it out.

You may have to show PROOF of your DTV Visa to airline staff on check-in for your flight ✈️ to Thailand...even to the connecting airline staff.

Upon arrival into Thailand, show the DTV visa to the Thai Immigration Officer and look at the STAMP placed in your passport to be sure you are STAMPED in for 180 days.

Yeah.. You can stay 5 years, but cannot get a bank account

Oh and also you need to leave the country after 6 months otherwise you might be taxed, or not... Who knows?

Then you're one of the lucky few.

Right now it is impossible to open a bank account

No you don't get a bank account. They now come with different reasons every time.

Yesterday at Bangkok bank:

- you need to have two ID's

- You need to get life insurance for 40K baht.

Who is going to pay 1100 USD to open a bank account?!?!

The DTV is worthless. Yes you can stay in the country for 5 years. But...

- extending after 180 days within the country is drama. .

- impossible to get a bankaccount

- this vague tax situation

- still need to do 90 day rapport

The Philippines is starting to look more attractive everyday

Same thing happened to me too. You need to go back to embassy to get it fixed. Normally they correct it with pen and sign on it. No pressure

I doubt there is a problem. And just flying there and worst case applying again: is most likely cheaper than just applying again.

Very worst case: you get a 2 month arrivied stamp and have 2 month time to think how to sort it out.

Email the embassy and let them fix it. They won't pick up random phone calls, but most of them reply to emails withing 2 days.

odd. They're the ones who issued the visa. I hope they let you in when you get here. If they ask, just explain what happened.

And for future reference, just write your name without a hyphen when dealing with Thai authorities. Keep it simple as they already complicate everything on their end.

Thank you Toni, I was so excited, now panicking a bit.

I've had issues similar to this before, as many systems don't seem to recognise double barrel names

just enter, it's approved and your passport denoted, many reasons how this could happen, take a copy birth certificate as well as more proof. Your picture is on there as well, it'll be fine 🙂

i was thinking even if you apply again, maybe they do the same thing. Should be ok in common sense, but you are right, never know in thailand. I myself, would go with that

Yes exactly, I don't know if they'd even approve it (as I already have a visa), and then maybe they'd do it again. I guess I'll have an update in a few weeks!
