Sawatdee krap everyone. How long does it usually take to obtain an ED visa if the school request it? Can i enter on a tourist visa and have enough time to get one without leaving the country? From the school i only get an automatic reply that they’re closed now because of the current situation which i totally understand. Chok dee na krap

TLDR : Answer Summary
The time required to obtain an Education (ED) visa in Thailand typically ranges from a couple of weeks to a month, depending on the school and current situations. It's generally recommended to apply for the visa from your home country, but if you are already in Thailand, it's possible to obtain the documents from the school and apply at a Thai embassy without leaving the country, although this may take longer due to current restrictions.

Sorry, but as you read, this person is NOT in Thailand.

That you found a school that hands out Non Immigrant ED visa without leaving the country, without having a legal stay, sounds all nice,

Go for it, be aware that almost every country in the world has some rules about abusing passports

You only get a Visa for Thailand from the Royal Thai Police Immigration Bureau inside Thailand or at a Thai Consulate,

Be careful with your passport.

Id would allow a month to get all the documents, at least a month (if doing in Thailand) Its easier to get the visa before entering the Kingdom from your own country but check with the embassy in your country first. You can do this when in Thailand but you need time and will have to leave the country to get the visa, from a embassy outside of Thailand, eg Loas Vietnam.

It takes usually about 2 weeks for school to prepare all the documents needed for Embassy. But with current situation you better ask school directly.

normally you get the documents from the school, visit the Thai Embassy in the morning to apply, pick up your passport with visa the next day afternoon, And then make your way into Thailand.

There is no need to apply for a tourist visa first and then leave the country again to apply for a visa,

But as borders are not open yet for tourists, i guess you have to wait a little longer,

I'm a man who like the easy way, If you need an Non Immigrant ED visa, apply for the visa and then enter Thailand get the 90 days and go do your thing,

But alternative is come to Thailand without a visa, run around with the school, get a lot of documents printed, wait for Ministry of Education and hope all done within these 30 days to convert your stay into the Non Immigrant ED visa,
