Ktb lady said that she would open an account for me but because it was buddha day, the manager was not working this day. Luckily i opened one when it was still easy on a tourist visa years ago. So i just tried to get a 2nd one

Because i already have a postpaid subscription, i never tried to order and activate a tourist sim inside the dtac application. Just noticed it’s there. Worth a try

I opened my account in Bangkok bank lotus branch pak chong on a tourist visa in 2018. long time ago and a lot changed since. Now I’m on a longer term visa and still have it even after moving to Bangkok 🙏

Some hospitals can do extensions, too. Guess they have foreign patients who need this, too. Maybe you need to be customer there, though

I entered by air. Employee asked: do you need visa? I said i believe not. But maybe i researched the wrong sources. Seems like the swiss government negotiated a deal in the past. Maybe it’s different by land?

@Paulie *******
it arrived. But it didn’t come from immigration, they wouldn’t know the details in this letter. The department of foreign affairs titled it certificate of nationality and includes evidence that i am registered as a swiss abroad

@James ****
for every small change my local bangkok bank branch wants me to visit the office where i opened the account. Like when i lost my card i had to travel to pakchong. Would be easier to just use the bank across the street instead of a multiple hour taxi ride

@Paulie *******
it needs to come from the swiss embassy in Bangkok, not immigration 🙏

@Sefton *******
thanks. I just called the swiss embassy and they said that they don’t know either. They said it might be a passport copy signed by the embassy but if I can get the bank to explain what it is, they will be happy to help me. If I find out, i will update this post as it might help others, too 🙏

That was already a known problem when they introduced the e-visa for tourists. glad my embassy picked up the phone to confirm. I never use my middle name but thai places like hospitals use it because it’s easy ro pronounce
