TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion highlights mixed experiences regarding travel insurance claims while traveling in Thailand. Some users reported positive experiences, citing quick reimbursements and successful claims through various providers like AIG, Canadian insurance, and Allianz. Others shared unfortunate experiences, mentioning delays and failed claims from insurers like Tick and Regency. A common theme emerged around the importance of understanding the claims process and being aware of the terms and conditions of different insurance providers before traveling.

I had 2 travel insurance companies and both were garbage. One i tried 2 days trying to figure out how to make a claim. I suggest learning how to claim before you travel, now. You don't want to be trying to figure it out in emergency room. Not paying claims is how they make a lot of their money. Imo

My mom ended up on dialysis in Bangkok hospital. The insurance we contacted first was touring club Switzerland which she is a member of and has a travel option. They communicated directly with the hospital. I just paid a security deposit while they waited for a guarantee of coverage. Once this arrived, they asked for my bank details and paid the deposit back. I had to translate between insurance and hospital a few times as the insurance didn’t understand thai-English. The follow up appointment in another hospital was paid by her normal health insurance. I have never seen the price but I doubt we could afford to pay without insurance 😱
that's why a No-Frills-Insurance is worth the more money you are willing to pay

They paid upfront for me to go to the emergency room twice. I had to wait 30-45 minutes for the guarantee letter but they paid it all.

I made one small claim and it was paid, and one equalled the excess so no point claiming. Expect the insurer to check the details like were you in homeland 6 months before trip, driving licence, not over alcohol limit etc etc

Yes. It was very successful through Canadian insurance. The Thai hospital does most of the work to get it processed.
I wàs with Tick. Plane was delayed 4 hours so missed connecting flight and had to use Singapore Airlines from Melb to Thailand. Never reimbursed me the $2400 the flight cost me. Gave them the flick and will never pay insurance again. Waste of money.
That’s diabolical Max! This is exactly the situation for which you purchase travel insurance (as you well know). I had similar, booked connecting flights with same airline on same booking. First flight cancelled and no other flights available to connect in time. Couldn’t change or cancel the second flight because of the terms and conditions of booking.
My second leg (Bahrain to Bangkok) was cancelled due to a death on the aircraft. We were provided with refreshments, transportation and overnight accommodation. Didn’t actually incur any loss though.

AIG —claims in2022 -1K and 2023 and 2024. -$ 5,500- health ,flight interruption - no problem at all
how did that happen? One claim wih AIG and they will not insure you again. I had a health claim with them and the following year they would not insure me.
I’m in Cozumel Mx now been for a month 16 December on my way to Thailand and Cambodia for 3. 4 months my insurance AIG follows me - for my claims I have all doctors bills hospital medication etc receipt - I pay cash to them then submit to AIG on you return - never had a problem - call Stacy the professional and book her services - mention me -
