Hi everyone

Thinking about going with this company (yes I'm lazy)

But the amount of traveling in and out from the country makes it worth it since I'm already in Thailand.

They offered to change my workpermit to a dtv.

Agent fee: 18.000baht

Dtv application fee 350€ ( 12.479baht) total = 30.469 baht ~

I'm my opinion it's quite good. Going to Laos/Kambodja stay there for a week will probably cost around 18.000baht anyway. Especially now when the holidays coming.

Has anyone in the group used thai visa centre?

Thanks everyone, see you in the paradise 👍👍

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the pros and cons of using an agency to apply for the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) while currently in Thailand. One user considers hiring an agency due to ease, but other participants warn against the legality of applying for a visa while in Thailand. Concerns about legality and risks are raised, especially regarding potential document falsifications and the requirements set by Thai immigration. There are differing opinions on whether to use an agency or apply for the visa independently, with some users suggesting traveling to Laos to apply directly at the Thai embassy.

Can anyone describe the process of applying in Laos? Do you do it at website? In that case which Website? Or just go straight to the thai embassy?

but Laos starts in January. and they say 10 or 15 days processing time. Vietnam only like 5 days.

I sid the same thing as I’m retired early and don’t qualify for retirement visa due to age. Good to have a bank account with non b already because banks don’t like dtv. Cancellation of the work permit took a while but went smooth

I'm thinking I will do it all bymyself and go to Laos on a tourist visa. Can anyone send a link to where you apply? Or do you guys recommend going straight to the Thai Embassy in Laos? Which one is the fastest option? I'm thinking Laos - Vientiane

Laos is starting eVisa now so you would have to apply online and they state 10-15 days processing time. a long time… probably better to fly to vietnam and do it online (evisa) there. takes maybe 5 days. have all documents prepared. some embassies require 3 or 6 months of financial proof / bank statements… you should search this group for the specific embassy to learn about the requirements

Do you know which website? It seems almost to easy to be true by the thai visa centre. But if you looking at the reviews they have 4,

of around 1500 clients.

what do you mean with website? thai evisa website? embassy website? the embassies often dont list the specific requirements on their website. just search this fb group for a specific embassy and you will find all the information.

My friend also said that you have to leave the country and that it might be illegal. I got a second e-mail which brings me more concern. They wrote me this:

"However, to applying for a DTV when you are NOT physically in your residence country, it's possible Thai Embassy may request additional documents, such as a confirmed flight from your home country to Thailand, or in person interview at your residency country"

@Patrik ******
it just depends which embassy you use. they all have different requirements.

Not the risk worth to break laws, be rejected and loose the fees, and be banned for years coming back to Thailand.

DTV is not the visa for you, if you wont live up to the requirements.

If you are allready working in Thailand with a workpermit, then it will be better to countinue at that way, or you have to stop your current job, and get a new remote only job, making yourself visibel if you continue working your present job.

I'm going for a dtv cause my workpermit ends... ofcourse otherwise I would not apply for an dtv.

I have seen that there are some agents who get all your documentation prepared, then bounce you out to the border, have you send them a copy of the visa/entry stamp to the nearby country, they upload that as proof you're out of thailand, then they bring you back in and you wait here until the DTV is approved, THEN they bounce you out/back again to activate it 😮

It's just a giant cash cow for the agents/agencies now to 'game the system' so people can jump on this Destination Thailand Visa bandwagon by any means
Tod *********
Every agent in thailand is offering this b/s "we'll apply for you while you're here in thailand" line to hawk this visa.

Just so people understand, you are applying for a visa with false information, <- that would be lying on the visa application to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (the people who run the embassies/consulates in other countries) 🙁

You cannot physically be IN thailand and apply for a DTV, the system errors out and won't let you proceed, SO the only way to get around that is to lie and say you're in another country.

Now some countries want you to upload PROOF you're there (visa/entry stamp) but agents get around that by applying in your home country and just using an address there 😕

It's bad, it's not the way the system was designed 👎

I would imagine (and hope) at some point the MFA will have a way to verify (thru entry/exit stamps) that you were IN thailand when you applied for the DTV in another country

I did read that at some border crossings the thai immigrations was asking people who were bouncing to activate a DTV how they got one from (Canada/USA/UK) while they were IN thailand 😮 and they were charging a fee to let those people bounce to activate the DTV

Notice this image shows you can't select you're in thailand to use the eVisa system 🙂

So what would your recommendation be? Go to Laos and go directly to the thai embassy with the correct documents? Or apply online while in Laos?
Tod *********
@Patrik ******
I'm not saying don't use an agent that will "push paper" for you while you're inside the country, I was only pointing out what you're actually doing 🙂
Tod *********
@Patrik ******
if you wanna go to a consulate that is walk up, no appt needed, and fast processing you to to the thai consulate in Taipei

That one is the fastest turn around of any consulate
Tod *********
@Patrik ******
there are no openings at either thai consulate in Lao (seeing as while they were walk up consulates you needed to book a mandatory appt online to get in the gate and they're booked up until the 20th when they stop selling visas and they won't re-open until after the new year with the online eVisa system

1. you need to leave the country to apply. everything else would be illegal and sketchy

2. all the countries are changing to eVisa and there is no more 1day visa run to Laos for example. Laos especially lists 10-15 days processing time with the eVisa starting from january (all appointments booked our weeks ago for 2024).

3. an agency cannot really impact your visa process. they can check your documents and help with questions. but so can this fb group for free. up to you if you want to pay that much money for basicaly 20mins of work - uploading 4 documents.

@Dany *******
i agree with u
Sandra *****************
the process by itself is not complicated. I would stay away from using an agent because that's what immigration looks for. When they see you used an agent they look at you differently and sometimes give you a harder time because they know you are willing to pay.

Beautiful post. Money can do lots of wonders ✨️
Wesley ********
So they offer to do it while you don’t leave the country??
Greg ********
As long as you accept the downline risks. That price seems very low though ie 18k for their fee and whatever bribe they are paying at the Embassy/Consulate.

DTV better than work permit ?)

@Stephan ***********
no you have more rights with a workpermit. Open bankaccoint etc. But in my case i pay 20k for it per year, 1 year visa. With a salary of around 50k baht. Sure it's alot for thai people. But i would earn 4x times more working remotely.
Luit *****************
@Stephan ***********
With DTV you are not allowed to work within Thailand, only remote, with work permit you can.

Which is better depends on the kind of work you do.

I think having a work permit for remote work is strange.
Stephan ************
@Luit ****************
agree and thank you for answering 🙏 just not yet have enough information about DTV . Even no one can tell me exactly , after 180 days I should do border run or just pay 10 000 in imigration or how much …? 🥹🫣
Dany ********
@Stephan ***********
1900 should be the extension fee. once per entry. so have to leave after 360 days and come back… probably easier to bordern run every 180 days.
Anonymous ******************
The agents, so far, are taking you out of Thailand to apply for the DTV, it’s illegal otherwise. Maybe they say you won’t have to leave Thailand, but keep that in mind. Just a friendly FYI.
Alistair **********
They have a good reputation. Money can solve a lot of problems. Probably worth it. Don’t listen to those who think saving pennies for a lot of stress is worth it. I’m doing it myself in Vietnam as it’s jus e visa. No way I’m waiting around outside in the heat pollution and noise for hours in Laos for the same or more money. Plus ventianne is a total dive.

yea it’s all a bit vague. I’m sure new rules will come in later.

yes but if this works now I think I should use the opportunity, 18k I still cheaper than flying to Vietnam and staying there for a week and then go back

@Patrik ******
yeah flights around 7-8k baht return and minimum for hotel is 1500 unless you stay in a shared room at a hostel 😂
