You're using this, right?

Yes (anyone can), although it would make sense for a British husband to sponsor his own wife, especially if they have a life together in Thailand, which will help with the 'reason to return'. His daughter only needs to write a letter/email confirming they can stay with her and proving she owns the house where they will stay.

Well written and mainly accurate. However, passport photographs are no longer required as they take them at VFS when they do the biometrics.

Complete the online application form. Make sure you show the trip can be paid for, (the money can come from anyone), write a sponsor's letter (if you are sponsoring her), enclose evidence of your relationship (marriage cert etc), show that she has a reason to return to Thailand. Make an appointment with VFS at The Trendy, Suk soi 13 where she will drop off the hard copy application and supporting evidence, and get her biometrics taken. The visa should be issued or denied within a week. The ECO may phone her to check parts of the application.

It's a good idea to have travel insurance but it's not required for a Visitor visa. There is no face to face interview, but they may phone her to check details of the application.

UKVI staff do the phone calls, although if they have to speak Thai it will be one of the ECO's Thai assistants. You are absolutely right. They will try to catch out applicants on the phone and if something is said that doesn't tie in with the application it can be used for a refusal. I coached my GF on what/what not to say, and we were OK. Did you re-apply? There is no doubt that a refusal, and then a successful re-application is good business for UKVI!

It's automatically recognised in the UK too, but for a visa you need a copy of the marriage certificate in English to prove it! They don't just take your word for it.

If its for a UK visa you can it translated by any certified translation service. No need to go to Chaeng Wattana. I got my translations done at one of the many places in Ploen Chit.

I can't comment on the contents of your letter which may well have been "bullshit". However, my point was the all refusals have to be explained, even if the explanation is bullshit. UKVI do make errors with applications.
