If i did,nt have to go i wouldent even bother the countrys F###ed with a capital F ive just submitted our forms today

I know this may seem a bit harsh and unfair but a lot of it also comes down to the girl in question and her past. I know of university graduates with £££ in the bank receiving visas within 7-10 days where as ex bar girls with farang husbands being refused time after time and then having to pay agencies 50-60k baht before they get a visa

Thats what i like Henry like me only positive ive lived here for 5 yrs without leaving got all the proof and had property in my wifes name for 8 yrs and have a 30yr lease on a rai of land where i had a previous house 10 yr ago
Henry *********
@Paul *******
Indeed. So does
@Paul *********
, so I think he should be fine too.
Paul ********
Yes Henry because you live here with her most applicants partners are in the uk.See my previous comments regarding sponsors in Thailand .

Thats a reason to return partner on a valid visa living, working here.
Henry *********
My wife has never done a proper job in her life, but had no problem getting a visa.
Henry *********
@Paul *********
As long as you can show that you have enough money to pay for the whole trip (and you said you were only going for 2 weeks, so it shouldn't be too expensive) it should be fine. You have kids in school in Thailand, so include proof of this and any letters from the schools giving you permission to take them out of school for the trip to the UK. There is no requirement for your wife to be working, if she's a housewife!

I was a bit confused Henry but a friend of mine took his partner last yr back to England were all finished the form just my farthers yr of birth and the we,re ready to pay and print the only thing we do not have is a large bank account but have house car motor bikes and much more all in my wifes name and i have two reasonable incomes my wife hasent worked since we got together thats wrong term my wife has,nt worked for an employer but shes worked hard looking after us an 21 rai of land
Paul ********
Reason to return is the issue :

House

Land

Real employment

The application will be judged on the balance of probabilities will the applicant return at the end of her stay.
Nick *******
And so it shouldn't either , I just noted that some girls find it a lot easier than others to get visas and a lot of that is down to social status and ££££
Henry *********
Working in a bar has no effect on getting a visa, if all the other conditions are met.

Henry *********
You don't post it. Once the form is complete and you've paid, you set up an appointment in Bangkok (@ VFS) to hand it in, together with the supporting evidence, and for the biometrics. Then it's about a week before you get the email to say the passport can be collected, either with the visa inside or a notice of refusal.

Make sure you enclose a copy of your permission to stay in Thailand - i.e. work permit/extension, retirement/marriage extension - and details of your kids' schooling in Thailand. I doubt you will have any problem getting the visa.
Jon ********
Why would you do that ?
Paul ********
The intention to return is you live here - in your situation she doesnt generally need assets - but if you have them include them.

************************
Kevin ************
Absolutely. Shows intent on returning to Thailand.
Jon ********
Our house is rented in her name, you think that will help?
Henry *********
Yes. Your joint ties to Thailand will be crucial.
Kevin ************
I'd also try to show any assets in Thailand such as property or a long term rent agreement that you will be returning to.
John ***********
if get someone from england 2 sent and ask your wife 2 stay ..get 3 mounth easy --but have 2 show can pay all the time they are in engaland -i -do 4 thai gf and her mum and nice ..need show return ticket as well ---short time no problem --freind off mind do maney time ---

I have refused once in December 2012, apply again in January 2013 was granted. They explained to me why i had been refused and when i apply again I included that refusal paper with my application form.

I am not Thai but Indonesia, I did apply my visa in Bangkok as well and the UK border websites is very clear (as clear as water, although my English is not perfect) and helpful, yes it takes a lot of work and stress but clear.
Andrew ******
she'll need a 3 month tourist visa but you have to prove a lot of evidence such as bank statements showing you can support her, invitation letter which includes plans whilst in England, a few household bills, old emails proving that you know each other and pictures of your house in England
Andrew ******
well, its ok if she isn't working 555 its been about 10 years since I brought my wife to England but she did all the research what I needed to prepare etc. first it was tourist holiday visa then a settlement visa after she wanted to live in UK
Henry *********
All UK visas are for 6 months (multiple entry). However, on the application she will need to say how long she plans to stay in the UK. If she says "6 months" she will need to explain how she can be away from Thailand for so long. Very few Thais can get a 6 month holiday from work.

Some useful links added above , just what I require .. cheers 👍👍

Your daughter can sponsor her,check the rules online.
Henry *********
Yes (anyone can), although it would make sense for a British husband to sponsor his own wife, especially if they have a life together in Thailand, which will help with the 'reason to return'. His daughter only needs to write a letter/email confirming they can stay with her and proving she owns the house where they will stay.

This online guide is a Standard Template for what you need.

The main things to remember is include anything and everything in your application from land and any property she own's to your income and more importantly to show a reason why she needs to return to Thailand. Also buy the biggest and brightest Folder you can find and present all the information within it professionally with a Table of Contents. Ask Your Daughter to write a letter also to confirm accommodation.

The attached link is a step by step guide to applying anyway. Good luck.

I take my wife to the states all the time she has a tourist visa . She got her tourist visa right before we got married. My wife also works for the Thai government which I think helped her getting her visa meaning showing that she will come back to Thailand.
Jon ********
The poorer the country the more difficult it is for entry.
Mark ********
@Jon *******
I'm wondering if the radar is especially on Thais! and not the Japanese or Chinese.
Jon ********
I think for the USA you will need to get a marriage Visa. I'd like to take my GF back to the states but I have heard it's literally impossible
Mark ********
I would imagine it is equally difficult to do for the USA. I'd simply like to vacation with mine for 3-4 weeks.

Thanks Adrian but i cant get into the 2 sites you posted at the min

Well written and mainly accurate. However, passport photographs are no longer required as they take them at VFS when they do the biometrics.
Henry *********
Complete the online application form. Make sure you show the trip can be paid for, (the money can come from anyone), write a sponsor's letter (if you are sponsoring her), enclose evidence of your relationship (marriage cert etc), show that she has a reason to return to Thailand. Make an appointment with VFS at The Trendy, Suk soi 13 where she will drop off the hard copy application and supporting evidence, and get her biometrics taken. The visa should be issued or denied within a week. The ECO may phone her to check parts of the application.

VFS is the drop-off centre for UK visa applications. They will check the documentation and forward it to the UK Embassy. You will also need to collect your wife's passport from there. Biometrics include a photo, and other information (retina) which is to verify your wife's identity and store it.
