One of our teachers did their annual Extension for work at Chaengwattana today. They got there at 7am but were still #146 in the queue and didn't get dealt with until around 2pm.
None of our teachers have done a TM30, or been asked for one, before. This time the officer explained that "next time" the receipt would be required. But this time, no TM30 and no fine.
Whether this is what's happening for all Work Extensions, or whether it was because they were super busy because tomorrow is another holiday, I have no idea.
TLDR : Answer Summary
A recent experience at the Chaengwattana immigration office highlighted the long wait times for work extensions, with one individual arriving at 7am and not being attended to until 2pm, despite not being asked for a TM30 form this time. It was noted that next time, a TM30 receipt will be required. The situation may vary based on the office’s workload, especially close to holidays, and there are suggestions that this new protocol could be rolled out more broadly across different regions, as others have reported similar enforcement in places like Phuket and Nonthaburi.
