Just an update to our visit. Quick, less than an hour for our extension (my sons visit last week took 6.5hrs) and everyone in both offices were super friendly. Also wanted to add that we have assured that funds in our joint US$ account will be accepted for both of our retirement visas as long as we have a certificate issued for each of us from our Thai bank (and enough to cover 2 x 800k).

We are queuing now for a 30 day extension having arrived on the 8th and visited the immi office in CM for changing to a non O for retirement visas. There would be enough time but all the appointments have been taken. Don't assume you have enough days to be able to get things sorted and weekends are not counted. You also have to go between 9 and 10am just to make an appointment to apply for your change of visa. Hope this helps others.

Tod Daniels Thank you for your invaluable advise and we will act on it on Monday. Lived in Asia for quite a few years, first time in CM/Thailand and must be getting old in the brain as we are struggling to get to grips with what we need to do for our retirement visa. Our funds are in various $ accounts here under joint names, so from what I understand from your comment is that we don't need to provide a 2 month record of funds in accounts under each of our names for the 90 day visa, is that correct?

CM. We have flights to SL for a hol on 1st Sept. Our plan was HCM 90 days on a tourist visa which didn't happen and then SL. We now have a 30 day since yesterday and even with a 30 day extension it does not take us to 1st Sept and flights are expensive at the moment. Funds are in joint accounts which we now need to address for visas. What would you recommend Tod?

Tod Daniels We probably would agree with you, but it is not impossible to get your passport returned in 1 day with a visa. All we were asking for with a little bit of understanding under unfortunate circumstances, not unreasonable we feel.

Not as sorry as we were, just a little understanding wouldn't have gone amiss. We had planned to pick our passports up on our return to HCM 4 days later.

We are going next week to both apply for a 60 day visa and have a joint bank statement from a Thai bank in US$. Is this ok for proof of funds? Thanks for any feedback.

We follow their requirements and have no problem, Drop off am and pick up pm a few days later. Check Thai public hols though.

Do they accept 1.6 mil in one account for 2 applications (married couple) or do we both have to have seperate bank accounts? Any couples have experience of this for their retirement visas? We don't really want to open new accounts.
