Ho Chi Minh tourist visa report.

Arrived at 9am with all the required documents for single entry tourist visa. There was one person in front of me. This person was applying for a business visa, however he forgot a document (id card copy of someone) that he said he never had to bring ....and he didn’t understand who’s copy ID card he needed. They told him he needed to get that document or else he couldn’t apply. He got angry and left. My turn.... they checked my documents and everything was fine and before 9:10 I was outside. Picked up next day around 14:00 within a minute. So my advice.... bring all your documents that are required and it will be easy!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A recent post shared an experience applying for a single entry tourist visa in Ho Chi Minh City, emphasizing the importance of preparing all required documents. The author noted their quick application process, completed by 9:10 AM, in contrast to another applicant who struggled due to missing documents. The comments included inquiries about acceptable proof of funds and essential paperwork for visa applications.

We are going next week to both apply for a 60 day visa and have a joint bank statement from a Thai bank in US$. Is this ok for proof of funds? Thanks for any feedback.

are you going to the thai consulate in Ho Chi Minh? You should be okay with that as long as the total is over the 20K baht per person required.

Remember the thai consulates in vietnam ONLY accept US dollars for the visa.

Thanx for the update, just curious did you have to show proof of 20K baht in a bank account, proof of onward travel and proof of a hotel booking?

I am not sure. It just said ticket out of thailand. I used a “fake” one. But you can always buy one with free cancellation I think.

Sorry to hijack but does the flight need to be within 60 days or can it be 90 under the assumption that you will extend?

I did have to show that, they will check it there at the counter, they circle/underline the dates of the airplane tickets and booking and the balance of your account. But I need to say that I cancelled my booking from the hotel before I arrived there so they don’t do a deep check it seems.
