if you wish to hold a long term visa in Thsiland you have to rely on a Thai bank account. The DTV is a tourist visa and holders are unable to have a Thai bank account.

The best advice is to dump BB and open a kasikorn account. I am looking forward to meeting the manager at my BB branch and to him watching me transfer a large sum of money from his bank to Kasikorn. He probably wont care but it will make me feel better after the problems they have caused me and others.

you have explained why you don't need a Thai bank account but not in a way which applies to people who live there. I don't need a German bank account because I don't live there.
