The 800k does. I don't think the 65,000 monthly currently has to be in a THAI bank just proof of that level of income. The minute they start requiring that much monthly in a THAI bank I am gone.
TM 50 is no longer sufficient? The US accept documents submitted by Thai government and embassies and consulates no "proof" required. This is not specific to US Thailand but international agreements.
I love it here but hate the immigration hassle in Chiang Mai. I am tired of paying an agency 6000 baht ( plus 1900 for the actual visa extension) but when you try to DIY it is almost impossible. 5 am stand in line and if you aren't among the first 90 come back another day. Changing documentation requirements, some only being requested by this office. So yeah, I feel unwelcome.
Make SURE your income documentation is good. Things like social security statement, if you have investment income must be on a notarized form from a CPA. If you have rental income you must show the lease( again notarized).
Notarize everything. If it even begins to look like they might want to see the form, notarize it.
IF you have dotted every I, crossed all Ts make 2 copies.
Have a couple passport size photos ready.
They only accept in person applications certain hours each day.
They only accept a certain number of applications per day.
No you cannot make an appointment to submit documents.
Arrive at least 2 hours ahead of the formation of the line to submit applications if you want any hope of making it under the quota cut off.
Jabba the Hut will take your application.
They will review it "briefly" to see if at first glance you have all your documents. It is then set aside " for further inspection and you are given a time to return the FOLLOWING day where if you have performed the necessary ablutions and made the appropriate sacrifice you will receive a visa.
Think if it as training for when you deal with Thai immigration in country.
Believe me you want to do it in person. By mail if you screw up they keep your $200 and you get to spend another $200. This according to a guy I met in line.
