I am of the understanding that health insurance needs to be purchased prior to applying for the visa. In my case the health insurance documents need accompany all other required documents when applying for the visa. My visa type will be Non O-A (long stay).
Here in Australia a Health insurance certificate and policy needs to be obtained prior to applying for the visa. Flight and quarantine details submitted at time of COE application.
thanks for the "heads up". I'm looking at retiring to Chiang Mai in the first half of 2021. I'm planning to go for 12 months and then seek an extension annually.
- on the assumption that the Royal Thai Embassy in Canberra ARE issuing O-A visas, can you get out of Australia and into Thailand at the moment. It may be okay to get the visa but can you leave the country and will Thai immigration accept you into the country?
Be careful who you go with - I am planning to re-locate from Australia next year, and there only a select few (about 10 I think) that are approved Thailand health insurance providers that the Thai government will accept insurance with.
