Why is there a delay in receiving the Thai Pass confirmation?

My gf got in touch with the thai consular in bkk and asked why the delay in issuing thai pass for me , their response was too many people applying more than once , and seemingly thai consular only recognises certain email addresses , surely they shoukd of stated that at the beginning of the application form , before everybody started filling it in , hence the reason why so many are not receiving a confirmation email !!! And understandably they try again thinking they have filled something in incorrectly ,, it doesn’t take rocket science to inform applicants as to what email addresses are and are not recognised !!!!

TLDR : Answer Summary
Users report frustrations over delays in receiving Thai Pass confirmations. The Thai consulate mentioned that many applicants are applying multiple times, possibly due to not receiving acknowledgment emails. There are concerns regarding specific email providers, notably Microsoft-related accounts, which seem to have issues receiving confirmation. Many users experienced quicker approvals when using Gmail, leading to suggestions that applicants use this provider to avoid delays.

Don’t worry. Logical thinking is not compatible with Thai thinking. We will never understand ...

Microsoft related domains include Hotmail, Live, passport, Outlook, Msn. don't use these.

I’m really not buying this “gotta use Google mail” or whatever. It really doesn’t matter to their servers. Any email account can have spam filters that could filter out their emails. People just need to look into it and whitelist the Thailand Pass domain for their particular account. I use a private email account and received both the confirmation and QR code. It took 4 days to get the QR code, so patience is needed.

If the emails aren't getting delivered by Microsoft it's their problem. Imagine if your postman threw away all your mail.

Right, people want to blame it on Microsoft, but who designed the form? Who set the criteria for mail delivery? There are millions of other web sites in the world with forms and none of them have this problem with accepting email from one of the world's largest email providers.

As someone under whose purview was a 3,000 user email system, I can assure you Microsoft pull this shit all the time and your IT staff have to find the offending emails and release them, and *try* and get Microsoft to whitelist the domains/addresses if possible, which is usually like pulling fucking teeth.

As I understand it, people are now starting to get emails on their Hotmail accounts, so it might be resolved.

By the way, they are not emails *from* Microsoft, they are emails *to* Microsoft, and it is (or was) Microsoft who was blocking them.

it's not about MUST use Gmail, it's about using any address that isn't Microsoft controlled such as Hotmail, passport, outlook, live, or msn. It's Microsoft's spam algorithms that are the issue.

you just need to ask whatever service provider you have to whitelist the domain that you would receive the email from.

Avoid Microsoft: Hotmail, Outlook, Live addresses and variants like outlook.co.uk.

I think Microsoft are blocking the emails and the Thais have brought it to their attention. Microsoft are a pain in the arse at the best of times for blocking emails.

Gmail works, just use that.

Gmail works but I'd stay away from anything Microsoft related, Hotmail, outlook, live, passport, msn. It's likely MS shitty spam algorithms that are the problem.

This is bizarre. It should work with any email address. Their web developers don't know what the hell they're doing.

Exactly..any competent programmer with even minimum experience should be able to write automated emails that pass the majority of mail servers. Typical of pretty much any programming done for government agencies here. Never tested and buggy as hell.

First, there is no such thing as Thai consular in Bangkok. Second, the Thai authority already identified the applicants with hotmail address will have trouble to receive a confirmation reply and this issue has been brought to Microsoft for attention.

There is often a transition period when a new system is implemented. They work around the clock due to some people submitted multiple applications or insufficient documentation. Be patient or you can wait until the dust has settled in a month.

Understand your frustration as I was in a similar situation but not with Thailand. Persistent calls until I got hold with the authority and got it sorted.

Department of Consular Affairs of MFA has a phone number 02 572 8442 for people to address their queries about Thailand Pass. Your application is one of few thousands in the process, this could be your last resort. Good luck!

I got an immediate response that they had received my application and that the results would be sent within 7 days. Others post the same result, so if you are not getting that much it might be you have sent with the wrong email. Another post also stated that they require Gmail

It's been 2 years since foreign tourists could enter the top travel spot in Asia... Dont expect the process to be smooth when vast majority had been entering on visa waivers before travel ban.... This is expected so u just need to more patient and proactive.

After trying and getting rejected once for not uploading hotel booking, which I did of course, I tried with a gmail email and applied through Google Chrome. I got the QR Code within 24 hours.

People applying more that once? Well maybe let people have accounts and permit them to edit failed applications rather than, well, starting all over again.

Not sure if this is an impact as well, but I heard from 2 different newsletters Insubscribe to that recently email accounts hosted by hormail, AOL (is that still being used), yahoo and verizon have been blocking email coming from automated mailing list systems and subscribers were not getting their newsletters. Not sure how the Thai MFA sends out their confirmation emails but thus could be a possible issue if you use those email providors. Good luck all.
