Hi,

Just left Immigration at the Central Festival, Chiang Mai.

Applying for a Re-entry Permit (TM8) and the officer told me that I needed to submit a copy of the TM30.

News to me - cannot find a TM30 as a required document when applying for a Re-entry Permit.

Advice please as I will be returning to Immigration tomorrow.

Regards!

Graham

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquired about the necessity of a TM30 form for applying for a Re-entry Permit (TM8) after being informed by an immigration officer at Central Festival in Chiang Mai. In the comments, users clarified that the TM30 is indeed required to demonstrate proof of residence in the area of the immigration office, even if not explicitly listed in the application documentation. The user later confirmed they obtained the TM30 from their landlord and planned to return to immigration to continue with the TM8 application.

All good - I now have a copy of the TM30 from my landlord, visited my agent here in Chiang Mai and he will get the receipt from Immigration tomorrow. Then back to Immigration to process the TM8.

Thanks for the info!.

Cheers!

Or you could probably get one at the Chiang Mai airport on the date you're flying out without needing a TM30 ๐Ÿ™‚

A TM30 has been required for a LOT of immigration things for a good while now and sadly (as you found out) that you couldn't find it listed in the required documentation doesn't mean you didn't need one

You need to have the hotel you're staying at or the land lord file a TM30 to prove you stay in the area of the immigration office that you're using. If they do it online they take a screen grab of you being registered in the system as staying at that address and you print that out
