Go to Siem Reap. Easy, short, direct flight. Get to see Angkor Wat while you are there. Small easy airport to navigate with a baby. Short 10-15 min drive airport to hotel with no traffic. Not expensive. Win win win win win.

Canada is has the most strict verification process. EU countries is a lot easier. Also depends on what you are sending... under a few thousand USD is easy, over that it gets more complicated. I think EURO is the easiest to send and receive.

I use transferwise almost daily now. Took a little time to get verified and understand the system. But its far cheaper than using the banks (who create their own exchange rates) and the transfer fees are less too. Huge savings. The expense of international transfers isn't the "fees" by the banks, it's their own exhange rates that they decide upon. Compare a few methods, using banks the exchange rates add up to a lot vs the real exchange or what transferwise will give you. @

I don't know why that is... Maybe you needed to get the bank statement notorized or approved by your embassy? I had an issue in Australia when I showed my banking details for a Visa and they said they wanted to see it in THB - and I had to explain to them that I only had USD and CND accounts

Bernd Moonfruit yeh you can transfer euro to thb no problem, but you cant transfer Euro to Euro (in a thai bank, but keeping the foreign currency as Euros)

No it has to be one currency to another. Unfortunately can't do Euro to Euro or Usd to Usd.

There is also an immigration office on the thai side that will issue you an extension on your visa. Again one of the easiest places in Thailand. Never busy. Very quick and friendly

Mae Sot is one of the easiest borders. Stamp out of Thailand. Walk 5 mins across. Stamp into myanmar. 500 baht fee. (If it’s still the same as it was before). Stamp out of Myanmar. Walk 5 mins back to Thailand. Stamp in. Done.

If you want you can explore the markets/town/temples of Myawaddy for an hour or two before going back to Thailand too.

Super easy. No lines. Very friendly immigration officers.

Apply for a Multiple Entry tourist visa before leaving Canada. At a thai embassy near you or mail it to Ottawa. This will give you 9 months total if you play the dates right. Also it will allow a few trips to neighboring countries.
