My grandaughter and friends are coming to Thailand in August and unsure how long they woukd like to stay .

If they enter Thailand on 30 day visa free can they go to immigration if they want to stay after 30 days and apply for an extension?

They are from Australia đź‘Ť

Not too sure how many Russians we have in this group but if you are or have friends who are then this may help.

From the 1st of November last year Russians were able to get a visa waiver stamp of 90 days on entry to Thailand. They actually have a choice of 30 days or 90 days although many are not aware of that choice.

With the 90 day option their entry stamp is not changeable to any other visa or extension within Thailand and they MUST leave within the 90 days.

We are seeing a significant rise in Russians coming to immigration to get “an extension” from their 90 day entry. Whether they believe it should be 30 days or 90 days is about 50/50. The fact is they can’t. They have to leave.

If they opt for the visa waiver 30 day entry then they are free to change their entry to another visa/extension such as marriage, family, education or whatever.

Please note that visa waiver and visa exempt are two separate entry schemes. Russians using a visa waiver based on a bilateral agreement are not subject to the “two entries per year via a land border”.

My wife has a US passport and arrived in Thailand August 9, so her 30 days is over September 7. She will get her Thai passport a week before her 30 days is up, and was wondering if she will need to leave Thailand before 30 days and re-enter with her Thai passport or can she just let the 30 days pass?

ATTENTION ALL MEMBERS:

THE 45 day visa exempt entry program is OVER

You now get 30 days visa exempt or visa waiver like before

The 30 day Visa On Arrival program for the 17 countries that buy one for 2000baht when they show up here goes back to 15 days like it was before

Edit;; the reason these stamps show TM6 departure cards is because they were from LAND border entry and the TM6 arrival/departure cards was never stopped by land only by air..

US nationals who entered Thailand on a Visa waiver: How many 30-day Visa waiver extensions were you able to receive before having to leave the country for reentry? I'm on my 1st waiver extension (total 60 days) hoping for a second waiver extension to make 90 days.

I'm planning on going to immigration services tomorrow at Civic Center in Chain Watthana. I'm a US citizen and got a 30-day entry on my passport when entering the country. I've been sick with the flu for the past 2 weeks in my hotel and was wanting to get an extension. I'm not sure if this is a tourist visa or a 30 day Visa waiver. I was told if I go tomorrow I could either receive another 30-day extension or maybe a 90-day tourist visa. Is this information correct? I just wanted to verify before proceeding. Also I was told to be there by 8:30 a.m. is there a specific time frame for this process? I already have passport photos. Thanks.

Hi Guys, I’m going to Samui on Monday 25th to get and extension on my 30 waiver. (It runs out on the 4th march and I’m flying back to Uk on the 9th, Thanks to your previous posts I have all the necessary photocopies and documents in check. My only concern is that I am only booked into the my hotel until Tuesday 26th and I have yet to book further accommodation for the remainder of my holiday (as travelling). Will this be an issue with immigration? I have managed to get a photocopy of my registration form from my current Hotel. I’ve not been able to get through to the Samui immigration office to ask. Can you offer any information on this? Thank you in advance
