Re-entry permit question -

If you buy a multi Re-entry permit at Bkk airport does it carry over when you make a year long extension?

Or is it only valid for the current visa you hold? My husband has a 90 day single entry non b. He has to leave the country before making his year long extension. But we plan on taking many international trips throughout the year. Should he buy a multi Re-entry permit now? Or buy a single Re-entry permit for this trip and then buy a multi Re-entry permit once he makes his year long extension?

Maybe this is a stupid question but I’m confused how to go about it and don’t want to buy a multi Re-entry now to have to buy another when his extension is processed. Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
A re-entry permit in Thailand is only valid for the duration of your current visa stamp. This means that if your husband's visa is a 90-day single-entry NON-B visa, the re-entry permit will expire when the visa does and cannot be transferred to any future extensions. It is advisable for him to purchase a single re-entry permit for the immediate trip and consider obtaining a multi re-entry permit once his year-long extension is processed.

A reentry permit only lasts for as long as your current stamp. If the stamp last 90 days then so would a reentry permit. If you buy one now it is not transferable to a new extension.

thank you very much. We will get a single Re entry now and a multi Re entry when the extension is processed.
