I am leaving in 3 days for my 3rd trip to Thailand! Excited but nervous about a few last minute details...

1) Has anyone ever experienced any issues with a one-way ticket to Thailand? I have a one-way flight to Bangkok, and didn't buy a return flight because I am planning to stay for an undefined period of time (and didn't want to risk losing money on a flight change).

2) I am planning to volunteer with a nonprofit on the Burmese border once I arrive. They said that now you have to apply for the volunteer visa in person at a local embassy (apparently this just recently changed). So I assume I will apply for the 30 day tourist visa at the airport then apply for the 1 year volunteer visa once I arrive at the nonprofit center? Or do you have any other suggestions?

3) Can anyone tell me the cost of the application for the 1-year volunteer visa? I have found a couple of mixed answers (and it doesn't help matters if it was recently changed).

Thanks so much!!! ✨🙏💜

Given the new rules i've been reading about, that you must cancel work permit AND work visa THEN leave the country on the same day, does anyone have any experience doing this from Chiang Mai and reaching a land border on the same day?

Mai Sai would be the closest border -- actually 5 hours by bus from CM... Does anyone know when the border closes?

Another option would be Vientiane... It might be possible to fly to Udon Thani and make it over the border there in a single day... Does anyone know when the VTE border closes?

>> it would be preferable to go to the burmese border to avoid paying for a 1 month Laos visa. If going to Laos, may as well stay and request a 60 day tourist visa, as opposed to a 30-day visa exempt (although I hear you have to get an appointment these days!!)

>> alternatively, does anyone know if the authorities will charge a 500 baht overstay if you leave the country the day after you cancel the visa?

THANKS ALL FOR YOUR ADVICES

Hello All, my current tourist visa extension ends on the 11th of this month and I am wondering if it's possible to do a boarder bounce in Mae Sot on the Burmese boarder? I plan to stay another month in that province. Doing a bounce to Poi Pet doesn't seem logical since I'd have to travel all the way to Mae Sot right after. Is that possible and what problems may I run into? Thank you
