Hi, I have a question regarding extension of 30 day visa waiver. I made a mistake and thought I was stamped in until 28th, however I was getting my paper work ready this morning and realised that it is actually dated 26th (today). Immigration is obviously closed until Monday so my question is will I be ok to extend on Monday or am I better off trying to get a flight out of the country today? TIA!

TLDR : Answer Summary
User is concerned about their visa waiver expiration date, mistakenly believing it was until the 28th, but it is actually until today, the 26th. They inquire whether they can extend their visa on Monday despite immigration being closed today. Community members confirm that they can extend their stay on Monday without incurring an overstay penalty since the immigration office is closed today, with some advising on future early extensions.
Ceri in the future you can get a 30 day extension EARLY and you do NOT lose any days. You don't have to procrastinate and wait till the last minute. Good luck Monday π π π
Eric Watts, in bangkok you can apply for an extension of stay when you have 45 days or less left on your current stamp. Meaning you could fly in on a 30 day visa exempt entry, go to the immigration office right after leaving the airport and get a 30 day extension.
You will get an overstay stamp in your passport, but not fined. If Immigration Office is closed due weekend or holidays and you come in on the first working day after.
Thanks for the info. Can I just ask, is the penalty or overstay at the officers discretion? I only ask because I'm waiting on paperwork for and ED visa so I don't want to do anything that might jeopardize my application.
