- so grateful to you. I’ve been here a week already - ready to wire in the 800,000, but am finding difficulty in getting a bank account. They look askance at 90 Day Non 0, so it’s a catch-22. I also produced Tm30 + my current 2 month lease as paperwork. My goal is get the money seeded, and spend next weeks finding a long term Condo to lease. And move there Feb 15. I can see from your advice i need money wired no later than xmas. My visa expires Mar 13. Will seek u out for options should that date loom and stay still not have been extended. If comes to that, can travel out of country for a day and return on 60 day visa exempt to complete extension process, or must i be on a current Non O at the time?
- let’s say that 82 days into 90 days visa stamp, u finally get to immigration with everything, and apply for Extension of Stay. What happens next? Will one likely need to leave Thailand, at least temporarily, within 8 days becuz of 90 day non-o Visa expiration? Or does 1 year extension approval normally arrive quickly? ie Whats the latest in 90 Day countdown to visa expiration that one can submit their extension application and not hv to flirt with overstay?
- i re-read your post and think i have it wrong. I will be applying for Extension from within Thailand, hence looks like I need to transfer into Thailand my foreign funds and season them in a Thai Bank for 2 months prior to even applying for the Extension.
- hi Tony. Found this post most intriguing. I did apply and receive my Non-O out of the country. I used my bank balance (over the equivalent of 800,000tbt) as proof of funds for the 90 Day. I am honestly gobsmacked that I can keep this balance in my home country and still qualify for “extension of stay.” This info is invaluable and I can’t believe no other poster on this site is spreading word of this. You mean the rest of us have been needlessly worried about opening and transferring their money into an actual Thai bank in time to season it for 2 months bf their 90 Day Visa expires? When we are already set with the source from which it was originally reported for the 90 Day Non O? That’s crazy good news if 100 factual!
- Tony you’re all over my shit and i apprc it. Have an additional interesting quirk. I was in such a rush to apply in time for my travel date I paid for a second visa application a day after my first, in case there were any errors and it got rejected. So now i just entered on my 1st visa, but also got the second one approved the day after landing in Bkk. can I actually use the 2nd approved visa i have received to somehow extend my timetable if necessary for applying for my extension of stay? And if so, what are a couple of scenarios where I would possibly wanna activate this 2nd non 0 visa i have in my back pocket?
Although — TM30 i have combined with Non-O will allow me to open a bank account, right. And since i have no intention of driving here, hopefully passport will be sufficient ID for bank account
- basically i’m kinda curious if Tm30 I received upon paying rent in this current place would be sufficient for meeting residential requirement for purpose of “year extension of stay”, but answer sounds like no in your opinion.
- I’m currently renting a private condo locked in for 2 months. I don’t want to sign a lease here for a year, but it is at the moment my actual “current address”. If a 1 year lease is absolutely pre-requirement to file an “extension of stay, I will eat the last 2 weeks of my 2 month requirement and shoot for Feb 1st as the date to move to a condo with 1 year contract. That still gives me at a month left of my 90 days to get my year extension approved. It seems like a catch 22 cuz what if u sign a lease and somehow don’t receive the Extension of Stay?
