Can someobdy spell out ALL MANDATORY DOCUMENTS required at Immigration to receive my first ever NON O Retirement “1 year extension of Visa”. I’m concerned becuz current “money seasoning” will push my first available day to visit IMMIGRATION, to within 10-12 days of the expiration date of the current 90 Day NON O I used to enter the country? I couldn’t control the time it took getting a Thai bank account setup and wiring 800,000 from my foreign account. Again —- one the day of my appointment, what Documents does immigration require to grant the first 1 YEAR RETIREMENT EXTENSION OF STAY?

TLDR : Answer Summary
To apply for your first-ever NON-O Retirement 1 year extension at Thai Immigration, you typically need to prepare multiple documents, including: 1. The completed TM7 form (Application for Extension). 2. Bank statement letter showing at least 800,000 THB has been in your account for a minimum of 2 months prior to application. 3. Bank book updated on the day of application. 4. TM30 form (report of residence). It's crucial to check with your local Immigration office, as requirements can vary by location. Some offices may also require additional documents or have specific nuances. It's advised to ask for a list directly from the Immigration office you'll be visiting.

All of them. None of them. Some of them. Will change on Tuesday or when there is a new moon. Except Wednesdays in months with the letter N

While everyone is trying to be helpful the only list that you can go by is the one provided by the immigration office at Chang Watthana but the Bangkok Immigration website is a good starting point. You want #22 in this list

Whenever you have to deal with a bank book, deposit 100bath or something the day you need it to ensure you get that date in your bank book.

I’m going to Apply at Bangkok Immigration

Go to immigration

Here in Pattaya, you can go and ask this question and they’ll give you a list of what’s required.

Pay someone to do it easy

I went one week before the expiration date. No worries. The IO sent us away because the photos were not according to the local-national requirements.

We went again the next day, with obviously a new bank balance letter from the bank and all went well.

Note that we went for “marriage extension” and they heavily try to discourage that. “When you would do retirement extension it would be done in 10 minutes” the lady repeatedly said.

She is really a very friendly and helpful lady. No passport photos? She will take her mobile and generate them. Too many forms? She will do them for us. Sign here!

But wedding extension…

Nonetheless, done within a week before non-o expiration. No worries.

@Peter *********
you applied for the extension with one week remaining on initial non-O? Then got the under consideration stamp which allowed you to stay beyond the date stamped in your passport, is that correct? I ask because I will be in nearly the same situation. In early January after my funds have seasoned.
Peter **********
@Manuel ******
I received the under consideration stamp until the end of my 90 day non-o plus one month.

Standard practice for marriage extensions. They have one month to visit you at home and do whatever check they want to do.
John **********
You need the money in your account for 2 full calendar months before you apply for the extension. Other than a TM30 you also need a letter from your bank, bank statements for 3 months (next year it will be 12 months) and an updated bank book on the day you apply. Anything else is going to be office specific so best to ask them

@John *********
what about the TM7, the application for the extension. He already has a visa and he’s applying to extend it so the very first document every Immigration will require. Is the TM seven the application for Extension
John **********
@Wayne *******
yes of course but normally they have that form at the immigration office
Wayne ********
@John *********
one other thing John I forgot to mention if you have access to a printer, you can download the TM 7 form and have it filled out prior to going to the immigration office. Saves a little time.
Wayne ********
@John *********
I agree with you 100% it’s just that some of the people replying to the OP‘s post are completely forgot forgetting about the application for Extension and that’s the first document on every list that I’ve ever seen. I would mention one thing that my immigration office in Phichit does not require an up-to-date passbook copyy all they require is a letter from the bank stating I have met the time and amount requirements. But for sure the best place to get the proper answer to this question is at your local immigration office.
John ********
This will help you, but I would also suggest that you ring the immigration office that you are going to use for any other information they may need

@John *******
, outdated information.

it's just a guide for them

As others have said all immigration offices are different. If you are going to be applying at one of the bigger offices (Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket Chaing Mai etc.) then you may be able to get better advice from this group.

Sounds like you have done the correct thing by getting the 800k into your bank account as early as possible. All the other requirements are normally easy to obtain.
Jim ********
Go to your immigration office and ask for the list. They're all annoyingly different
Rok ********
In my experience seasoned, transferred from abroad 800k and proper (as per local IO) TM30 most important.
Wayne ********
@Rok *******
since he’s been applying for an extension of his visa I would say the TM seven the Ext application would be the most important.
Nongnuch ********
@Wayne *******
more important is the bank statement letter that proves the 2 months seasoning of the minimum of 800,000.- THB. The TM7 form he can easily obtain and fill out on Immigration
John **********
@Rok *******
no need for transferred from abroad for an extension but the money does need to be seasoned for 2 months before applying for the extension
Rok ********
@John *********
the poster is asking regarding a 1st extension
John **********
Rok ********
@John *********
transfers must certainly be marked as Foreign Transfers
Nongnuch ********
@Rok *******
sorry but you are wrong! That's only required for the initial 90-days visa if you are doing a "change of visa type" inside Thailand. If you have entered with a Non-Imm-O visa you obtained in your home country, there is NO requirement that the deposit had to come from abroad. There is no such requirement for the application to the 1-year extension
John **********
@Rok *******
only for the initial non-o visa, not for extensions of stay
Rok ********
Bob **********
If you’re on a non-o now you got until the last day to file but I wouldn’t advise it in case you need additional documents
Tom ********
If you go to the immigration office and tell them what you want to do they will give an info sheet and you can go through it step by step.
Jon *******
You're probably better off researching something like this at the Thai embassy website. You may not get accurate information from strangers on fb.
Kim *********
@Jon ******
embassies and immigration are controlled by different authorities. Immigration are the ones to ask
Wayne ********
@Jon ******
embassy knows nothing about granting extensions must be done at the local Immigration .
Gordon ************
@Jon ******
The list I posted is the list I use, every year. If they alter the requirements, immigration tell you there’s another form to complete and they give you it, simple 👍
Jon *******
@Gordon ***********
OK. Go with that. 👍🏽
Jim ********
@Gordon ***********
That's specific to your immigration office. There's a lot of items on there not required in Bangkok
Gordon ************
@Jim *******
You can never have too many 👍👍👍
Jim ********
@Gordon ***********
But what if an immigration office wants something that's not on that list?
Gordon ************
@Jim *******
He usually has it and gives you a copy, that happened last year
Jim ********
@Jon ******
Not really. What's an extension got to do with an embassy? Poor advice
Jon *******
@Jim *******
because he's asking for document requirements. That's exactly what I'm going to do when I'm traveling is post a question I need to know on a fb group and run with advice from strangers instead of looking up directly from the source. 🤦🏿‍♂️
Jim ********
@Jon ******
And a Thai Embassy in say Los Angeles is going to know what documents an immigration office in say Ubon Ratchathani is going to request for an in-country visa extension? That's a total ROFL! 🤣🤣🤣
Cissi *********
@Jon ******
the Thai Embassy in your home country and a local immigration office in Thailand is NOT related at all (in fact they're even under different government ministries) meaning a Thai Embassy is not the right source!

The OP got solid advice here in an fb-group from strangers... to check the requirements at the immigration office where he plan to do his extension. No Thai Embassy abroad knows the exact requirements for each local immigration office.
Nongnuch ********
@Jon ******
the Thai embassy has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with what Immigration will require from him document-wise. Absolutley NOTHING!
Rok ********
@Jon ******
no point at the embassy. Only Local Immigration office requirements relevant.
Lynnette *******
Go to your immigration office and get their list. Then you'll have correct stuff.
Gordon ************
Claus **********
I have not seen this list before. I live in Thailand only 6 month/year for the last 2 years so I am using a 6 month tourist visa.

However the requirements seems almost ridiculous, especially item 12. Photo of ”Alien” standing in front of accommodation.
Gordon ************
@Claus *********
This list is for Koh Samui, for people who have a 12 month extension of stay, based on retirement 👍
Andy ************
Every immigration office has its own nuances. You haven't mentioned the office, but my advice is to go there ahead of time and get the list from them.
