thank you so much for your help! Thatā€™s a big relief to know we donā€™t have to tell the kids we have to cut the holiday short! Much appreciated that you took the time to respond and help today šŸ™

thanks for the response. Itā€™s not my first time doing it online - have done online for probably the last 3 cycles? It would definitely help if they gave me a reason why it was rejectedā€¦

apologies - Iā€™m not being clear enough. By late I mean after the 7 day grace period. As in had I done it yesterday I would be within the 7 day grace period but, sadly and foolishly, I didnā€™t so technically I am 8 days late.

If we stay here and go back to immigration on Friday/Monday we will 100% be fined either way but I am trying to understand if we will be fined one fixed penalty of 2,000 each or will it be 2,000 for every day late?

Thanks again šŸ™

online - I did it today online and theyā€™ve sent me a one liner saying itā€™s been rejected. Presumably because it was a day late.

Ok so the fine is capped at 2,000 regardless of time elapsed?

Thanks for the response šŸ™

If your initial Ed Visa doesnā€™t arrive before you travel you have an issue. The initial 3 month Ed Visa has to be applied for outside of Thailand and is then converted to the 12 months inside. So if you get stamped in on a tourist visa you will have to leave again to apply for the initial 3 month Ed Visa from outside the country. Iā€™m not certain about the guardian visa but certainly that is the case with the Edā€¦ keeping everything crossed that it arrives on time- with the new e-visa option they have been pretty quick!

We brought both of our dogs with us when we moved here. They both settled in well (we have a West Highland Terrier and a very large White German Shepherd). People also warned us about bringing our ā€œnon-nativeā€ dogs with us but theyā€™re our family and our vet told us straight out the trauma of ā€˜abandoningā€™ them would likely be worse than any adjustment theyā€™d need to make here. Theyā€™re both happy and healthy senior dogs (15.5 and 11 years old). So, of course you need to be mindful of ticks and staying on top of jabs, Nexguard etc the same as everywhere) but please donā€™t worry about that it is all manageable. We used United Pets to help with the necessary paperwork and bringing them to Samui for us (GSD is too large to fly hold with Bangkok Airways). Their details are below in case you need them:-

you will need 1 in UK before you depart (results within 72 hours of entry to Thailand). You will most likely have 3 on arrival (over 2 weeks) here depending on your quarantine arrangements but the cost of these should be baked into your quarantine/SHA package ā€¦

it is but take it in stages and it feels more doable! We went through it ourselves in Jan and am doing it again for my parents to come visit us in a couple of weeks - painful but worth it!
