Can my parents stay in Thailand for 89 days with a 60-day tourist visa and a 30-day extension?

Hi everyone, hoping for some confirmation. My parents (Irish passport holders) will come to visit us next month for 89 days. I am going to apply for a tourist visa via the e-visa website for 60 days and then apply for a 30 day extension at immigration to cover their full stay. Am I correct that this way they are covered for their full stay and will not need to leave before their time is up? Many thanks in advance ๐Ÿ™

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking confirmation about their parents' ability to stay in Thailand for 89 days by first obtaining a 60-day tourist visa via the e-visa website, followed by a 30-day extension at immigration. Responses indicate that this is a feasible plan, but suggest checking airline policies regarding return tickets and confirming the dates of travel.

I just left JFK and was asked by the airline to show my 60 visa which I did and even though my return flight was in 90 days there wasn't a problem my visa it stated I can extend for 30 days in Thailand

thanks for the comment ๐Ÿ™ thatโ€™s what Iโ€™m thinking too - the visa is readily extendable for 30 days so this shouldnโ€™t pose a problem with the airline. They fly from Dublin with Emirates and they seem to be ok as a rule ๐Ÿ™

I flew with Korean air out of JFK N.Y. they just asked for my Visa and I showed it to him with no problem. I come here every 3 months and depending on airline some don't even ask. I'm here twice a year for 90 days each time

They won't need to leave, but they may need to show their airline a ticket out of Thailand within 60 days before they'll be allowed to board their flight. They should check with their airline what the policy is for people traveling to Thailand with a tourist visa.

depends on the airline and the ticket. Most train and bus tickets are not actually across the border they're just to the border town on the Thai side and therefore are not proof of onward travel. And some airlines will only accept a plane ticket as proof.
