Gotta keep trying every bank and eventually you will hit lucky, ask what evidence they want and go from there. I went with my wife and got an account with Bkk and scb bank, also depends on each bank and each staff you speak with. If all else fails, Bkk wanted a letter from my embassy to evidence my passport, but at the next Bkk bank I went to my Thai driving license and passport was sufficient. Good luck 🤞

I just asked him to write I haven’t had elephantiasis, yellow fever etc Thai embassy were ok with this.

I got a letter off my gp in the uk, £10

it’s the only letter the British embassy do to validate your passport, so if they asked for that then that’s what they require, any reason why you want Bkk bank? Your on a O-A visa right, for one year only? When I first came I went in bank after bank and got lucky with scb with my non o visa, passport and Thai wife with me. Bkk we’re asking me for a letter from the embassy, but they couldn’t tell me what letter it was, so it was confusing to say the least. 🤞

you can do it by post too, if not in Bangkok, go to website above as Carl wrote, look for the page how to do it and there is a form to print and send with your passport, says it takes about 2 weeks.

If you use your bank to transfer money to Thailand, you lose a massive amount as the bank exchange rate is so low. Go through wise to transfer, the charge is more but works out saving hundreds on a large amount like 800 000 Thai baht.
