And I should add that immigration (Bkk) doesn’t seem to care about the date of the TM30. So I’ve done one a week or more after I arrived. For 90 day report they just want to see A TM30 on file.

It doesn’t seem that difficult. Fill out some forms and collect some paperwork together and have a few days in a neighbouring country…. Maybe it’s time to put your big boy pants on

unless by ‘previous years’ the OP meant over 10 years ago, when it was possible to get a 1 year multi non o in the uk for ‘visiting friends’ I had this visa myself 2 times before they stopped it 😬

You don’t say how long you intend to stay in the country? With a freelance type income, you could possibly qualify for the new DTV 5 year visa.
