I thought it was that you can’t get a full 5 year DL?

A tourist on 30 day waiver is able to get a 2 year temporary license, I don’t see why a DTV holder couldn’t 🤷‍♂️

Another option maybe: with kasikorn I can order a new card through the app. Came through within a week, and this way it has your name on it, as opposed to ‘privileged member’ 🤷‍♂️

so why are you harping on about money and stature? You made a pointless comment. Well done 👏

yup. It’s lawful. Get it while you can. All I’m saying is it’s likely to get harder.

right. Having a dentist appointment or 2 doesn’t really warrant a 5 year visa, does it?

I think we’ll see it becoming harder to get and the requirements will be tweaked. Even now I’m sure it’s being abused - people getting one and working here etc, it’s the golden ticket for people who did the same on tourist visas.

sounds like you might have to wait 3 months, as they’re clearly basing it on what’s in the hubby’s account, as ridiculous as that sounds. Just depends how much common sense the consulate has. Maybe they’d be ok if you topped up his account. If possible, I’d call them and ask.

So when you apply as a dependent, does it ask for your account balance, or your sponsors ?

they have talked about ‘global tax’ but it’s just talk. Nothing has changed, yet.

I think it will change. Particularly for soft power visas. To get a 5 year visa for a 1 month cooking course, or a hospital appointment doesn’t really make sense 🤔
