Not strictly visa related, but i know guys in here will be able to outline my options, if any;
(Im on setv)
I have a buyer for my car and we’ve planned the transfer within the next 2 weeks.
For some reason (?) as the seller it appears i need a cert of residence.
Earliest slot with the British embassy is early next month 🤯
Any option with immigration to get one sooner as a tourist?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking options to obtain a Certificate of Residence (CoR) quickly as a tourist to facilitate the sale of their car. The comments indicate that requirements for obtaining a CoR may vary depending on location, with some suggesting that Bangkok might not issue a CoR for those on short-term tourist visas, while others recounted personal experiences of acquiring one through other immigration offices outside of Bangkok. There is confusion regarding whether the seller needs a CoR at all, as opinions vary on this requirement.
Recently bought a motorbike from a Norwegian guy and we both had to have CoR.....he was only here on 30 day entry and got one at jomtien immigration without any problem.....you actually indicate on the form the reason for requiring the certificate (sell motor vehicle).....another point.....the bike was registered in Khon Kean and had to be changed to Chonburi were i reside.....takes 3 months for tbe transfer and still waiting for completion.......just mentioned that in case it will apply to your car
....umm not sure john as we both have residential addresses.. and took the required paperwork......i would think that if you are applying in jomtien then you should have a chonburi address or hotel........not 100% sure so maybe someone on here can advise accurately.....sorry
Did jomtien require a rental contract, Or would a hotel booking do?
Car has a bangkok plate, same zone as the buyer so i think thats ok. Just not sure if i turn up with a CoR from jomtien to transfer at bkk dlt it would work....
What is on my mind with this is that when i bought this car 2ish years ago, i sold my previous car 2 weeks later, and im almost certain I didnt require a CoR during the ownership transfer. Almost certain in that i needed one to buy the new car, so i only had a copy during the sales transfer, and I was fretting they’d not accept it, but in fact they didnt ask for it. Maybe a mistake on their part that time 🤷♂️
I just expanded his message to see where he mentioned being a tourist. And yes the first thing they wanted to see from me was my last 90 day report receipt.
you have to be on a long term extension of stay that does 90 day reporting to get one from the Bangkok Immigration office. People on 30 day visa exempt entries, tourist visas or Non-Immigrant visas where they leave the country every 90 days can't get one from that immigration office
It depends where you are. If you are not in Bangkok you can possibly get a residence cert from immigration, yes. You can get this in Chiang Mai for example on a tourist visa. Bangkok I believe won't issue them unless you are on a longer visa.
