Hi guys,

What’s peoples thoughts on the DTV stopping applicants if there’s too many being processed?

Should I just do a visa run now and do DTV in 3 months or would you do one now. My visa expires 27th and a lot of public holidays etc and not a great time for us to travel with a baby for a long processing time.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation revolves around the uncertainty of the DTV visa application process, particularly regarding potential changes due to the high number of applications and possible fraud. Users suggest doing a visa run before the applicant's current visa expires on the 27th, with some recommending Taipei for shorter processing times. Overall, there's a consensus that while there may be concerns about changes to the DTV program, it is currently viewed as successful and not likely to disappear.

You have the option to go to Taipei before the 27th as they accept walk-ins up to that date and their processing time is short. You may need some days though, if you are 1 main applicant and wish to add spouse and child to the main applicants DTV.

There is no risk of it going away at this point

The entire globe literally is trying to loosen visa restrictions and entice people, moreover modern remote workers, the likes if Spain are doing it, but in the east its a race to gain tourism after the pandemic, look favorably upon this, it's not going away, maybe some don't like the new norm, but it's here and Thailand are embracing it, hopefully its respected.

No chance. It's the most successful visa in Thai history. It's bringing in so much foreign money

It’s likely the entire program will be changed due to the requirements being too low and the amount of fraudulent applications - there have already been complaints that people are cancelling retirement, marriage and Thailand elite visas in order to apply for a DTV instead

Fraudulent applications? 😂. Many retirees want to get off the agent bandwagon and get a legitimate visa. You want to talk about fraud, go look at the agents who have been bribing government officials for years. Hopefully the DTV will put an end to that! ✅

retirees usually don't have or won't keep money in the bank and never want to deal with immagration forms not their thing. Do the agents will always exist. They are even doing the DTV or arranging paperwork for the lazy ones. Most agents have family inside immagration never stop them same with the banks they say no so you will go through an agent. Show me the money 🤣🤣🤣

I don't see how changing from a retirement, marriage or elite visa to a DTV could be fraudulent, if that's what you imply. The DTV has its own requirements, and anybody meeting them can apply, regardless of being retired or married to a Thai national.

right. Having a dentist appointment or 2 doesn’t really warrant a 5 year visa, does it?

I think we’ll see it becoming harder to get and the requirements will be tweaked. Even now I’m sure it’s being abused - people getting one and working here etc, it’s the golden ticket for people who did the same on tourist visas.

it's up to the Thai authorities to decide whether a dentist appointment grants a 5 years or not. If the authorities approve the visa, the it's lawful.

@Elías *******
yup. It’s lawful. Get it while you can. All I’m saying is it’s likely to get harder.
