"Soft Power" appears to be getting increasingly scrutinized, and given some of the enquiries on this group, it's not hard to understand why.

I think the rule is that if the claim is legitimate, and all the necessary Thai rules are followed, it's straightforward.

If you didn't want to lose that time, why did you apply for it in August last year for an arrival 6 months later? You could have gone last August.

OK. So that's the real reason. You have an understanding employer regarding leave! Good luck with the application. As long as you have all your ducks in a row, it's very fast. Just took me three days, start-to-finish, through London.

You can get a 30-day extension towards the end of your 60-day stay, so you'd get 90, without any border run.

If the company you work for doesn't allow remote working, sounds like you won't need a DTV. Regular tourist visa-waiver probably just fine?

Alan Rothwell Yes, but he's talking about having something sent from the UK to Thailand, hence my reply.

I've had nothing but pain in getting anything like that to Thailand, even with UPS, etc. The amount you're charged to import it is gigantic, making it just not worth it. A phone I sent (worth quite a lot), I just gave up on, and didn't try to collect. They wouldn't send it back, and the amount of tax and duty they wanted to charge was way more than the value.

I just would avoid that at all costs. If you know anyone travelling out to Thailand, ask them to take it, but if you're not there yourself, just take it, but not looking all new and in the box. Take it as your personal laptop, in use.
